Young people will pay for entertainment, but not news

Actually, it was when I was younger that I used to pay for news.

I feel that hidden in the data here is the optimism from Millennials (as if a group can be tied up in a bow) in the role of citizen in society. The concept of a citizen journalist is just the beginning of a world in which, when given the proper protection to do so, we are all engaged and communicative citizens. The goal should be 100% participation, and your payment for doing so is a robust society. We should never rely on others to step forward and ignite the grass roots to care about what matters. If it is to be meaningful, it must be organic. Yes, good news should be separated from bad, and information fact checked, but I feel that those are technical problems, not commercial ones.

Long live our blessed internet freedoms!
