13-year-old explains 'southern pride' to idiot racists

Thanks, I really should get around to reading that series sometime. I find the panel above especially funny having read threads on 4chan of (presumable) alt-righters fretting about their sub-par physical attributes as indicators for unfavourable genetic makeup.

It is indeed a mighty sick burn.

To the best of my knowledge the only memorial to Benedict Arnold is the boot at Saratoga. A reference to the wound he received but otherwise he remains nameless. West Point, the fort he planned on turning over to the British, has no memorials that I know of. Propaganda during the war was quite effective in turning him into a Judas Iscariot.

Or more statues of oranges to commemorate that great time when we were ruled by an Orange from the Netherlands (since we’re on the Williams)?

I don’t think I’d trust an engineer who thinks it’s a good idea to purchase something as failure-prone as a Maserati.

The statue of him has since been taken down, it was a statue eredict during the war, i remember reading about it in one of the school text books, but that he didn’t feel praised enough to he became a turncoat

Pride.

I grew up in the south. This is entirely correct. I wasn’t even taught why the Civil War was truly fought until college.

Oh and alllll the Mexican flags that would be needed to blanket the courthouses and Alamos of the southwest…

But the SAS were secure enough to drive pink Land Rovers.

Can I ask how you knew?

You either served up some irritating comeuppance to a jerk or you harassed and screwed over an already marginalized person. Can you imagine how awful it would be to be on the receiving end of that treatment if you had an invisible disability and assholes asked you to justify yourself regularly?

I don’t think a 99% chance of being right would even be close to justifying that.

Mountbatten Pink is barely pink though. SAS Land Rovers were like Barbie cars and they didn’t give a shit about it.

This is exactly the topic of a radio show segment I just heard. It was written by a black man who watched the show and loved the car as a kid, and how he felt when he was old enough to understand the context of the flag, and the fact that it was a national television show.

This song is featured in the show and written by another man expressing the same thing. Pretty good listen too!

And he’s got a good point about the convertible!

There are a lot of people who have placards who have invisible disabilities. You really shouldn’t judge someone by what they seem like when they get out of a car. A good friend of mine has rheumatoid arthritis and you’d never know it if you saw her getting out of her car, but she can’t walk very far and there are some days she can’t get out of bed. She gets challenged regularly on her placard and it’s horrible and aggressive and nasty and she has every right to use it. Be careful who you treat like crap.
