Depressing, but unsurprising…
Holy crap, somebody call the press. Mayor Pete has a black supporter
some cool graphics and good descriptions about some of the errors made in the iowa results
( i don’t normally post nytimes links cause they are ad block and tracker block antagonistic. this one seems accessible though. )
Any moron that champions a nanny state law meant to curve behavior that can be neutralized by the secret devilishly tricky phrase “I’ll just buy two then” is not equipped to lead an HOA much less the execurive branch.
I hope none of those mistakes were by people to whom I taught math in Iowa in the 80s, but some of the mistakes sound like things my students have done over the years.
The final forms in a given caucus are supposed to be signed by both the person elected to record the results, and also representatives from the selected delegate groups. (At least, that’s how it used to be.) That is supposed to eliminate mistakes like giving delegates to nonviable candidates.
As I’ve said before, anyone who is not advocating for radical change in America is, at best, a passive supporter of white supremacy.
However, when it comes to supporting Bloomberg, there’s absolutely nothing “passive” about it.

Thread:
This gets off-topic, but no, that’s not stupid. The portion cap rule was never meant to stop people from drinking enormous amounts of sugary drinks if they really want to; it was meant to stop them drinking lots of sugary drinks without thinking, because the default portions are so big. A lot of the time, when you want a soda, a smaller serving size satisfies the desire just as well as the big one; people want “a Coke” and not “half a liter of Coke” specifically.
Speaking of that Yale study:
68,000 deaths/year = private insurance is the 8th leading cause of premature death in the USA.
Yup.
My point was that you don’t even need to tax the billionaires to cover it (but tax them anyway), it pays for itself. Like housing the homeless, it saves lives and is cheaper. Just goes to prove how much cruelty is the point.
Yup.
OTOH, why not tax the crap out of some oligarchs anyway? Then we could actually get ambitious, instead of limiting ourselves just to bare essentials like universal healthcare.
If anything, Bernie’s plan is much too moderate. It’d still leave Bezos et al as billionaires, and as they say: every billionaire is a policy failure.
Nobody deserves to have a billion dollars. No one “earns” a billion dollars. No one needs a billion dollars as “incentive”.
and in addition to all those features zach roberts points out in the tweet, michael bloomberg has also qualified for the debate. i wish i could say that i was shocked . . . well, i can say those words out loud–“i am shocked!” but the truth value of the utterance would be zero.
How is discussing a candidate’s past political activities off-topic?
