2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine (Part 1)

Well that sucks for having a bad experience when you’re just trying to help. I want to be generous and say their trauma of being refugees is the cause of this sort of behavior, but also, some people are just jerks. I had a similar feeling when I delivered turkey dinners one year for the Salvation Army, and while most people were nice, a couple acted like I was inconveniencing them.?

TBF, many Americans would assume the same thing, because their knowledge of a place is informed only by movies and TV.

It would be nice if the US had a fair and equitable refugee program. Not just for Ukrainians but people of South and Central America, Syria, parts of Africa in civil war right now, etc.

Eh, just redraw the lines with Sharpie.

You’ve heard of cope cages, meet the cope map

A map where war crimes may have been committed, where people’s homes have been destroyed, where looting has occurred-- where the example of Bucha has been replicated many times over.

True. However, I have explained the reality to anyone who has contacted me through the portal, and even provided photos to show what is actually happening on the ground in front of the border. The outpouring of food and aid from Mexican citizens is hard to deny.

For example, while the BMP-3 requires relatively little training for a driver (“It has an automatic transmission, just like driving a Mercedes,” the officer said)

The BMP-3 has a turret-mounted 100mm main gun and a 30mm autocannon. Effectively employing these weapon systems from an armored mobile platform requires training and time.

Perfect for Los Angeles traffic, though. /s

@anon87143080, it seems to be even worse than what you were telling us: the whole crew of a Russian BMP being composed of officers

Indeed. And even if they don’t see it that way, they emulate it nevertheless because they see rolling back important democratic achievements as a necessity.

Even many long-established and generally stable democracies in the EU, like [France](https://Loi sur la "sécurité globale), passed laws in the recent years which make them less liberal.

Obligatory note that the Keep Calm and Carry On poster was not widely distributed during the Second World War.
