Let me break down those numbers a tiny bit. When the french tried to get the poles to put down the slave rebellion in Haiti, the poles told Napoleon to go fuck himself and then they fought alongside them; about 4 out of 5 poles died in the fighting which is roughly 80% of them. The deaths were so catastrophic, the haitian constitution made specific reference to them. So going by that as a standard, the death rate for russian prisoners is much higher than that. If Putin keeps this up for another year or two, the risk of his country breaking out into a civil war becomes decently high which becomes an even more of an disaster
