It’s a miracle to me that you can buy a whole, nearly ripe pineapple at Costco for around $3.00.
It’s one of the great bargains of groceries.

Plus you can stick the cutoff top in a pot of soil and it will take root. Amazing!

Apparently a lot of the good stuff in pineapple can be found in the skin we tend to slice off; I recently learned from a housemate of foreign origin you can toss all the trimmed off stuff in a pot of water, boil it up and strain it out and voila- tasty healthy beverage. (usually served iced I hear, and in this case rose hips and some ginger were involved, but there are all sorts of tasty sounding recipes online)
