Agreed. My wife has recently gone on a kick (inspired by some random youtuber she watched, I assume) on not eating bananas that have more than a certain amount of “sugar spots” as it will enhance her chances of diabetes (or “the sugar” as she calls it). Meanwhile, I will eat it as long as it’s not disintegrating.
My dad is also pretty open minded with banana age. Of course then there’s always the cryo-mummified superbrown ones in the freezer awaiting their ascension to the banana bread afterlife

I’ve had the pineapple test explained to me in the past as “Pineapples are the opposite of babies. Smell their bottoms to see if they’re good”.
Apparently I have something in common with a ripe pineapple.
