I just want to second everyone who is saying that a GED is nothing to be ashamed of. I myself got a GED when I was 17 after having to miss school due to some health issues and realizing that the idea of another two years of high school before graduating at 19 was just unbearable (I also did not have a good time at my high school). For millions of people who just could not do high school when they were in their late teens for whatever reason, it is a doorway to a better world (in my case, that meant college ASAP).
I can also attest that it is a real test that shows that you are at least familiar with what is generally covered in the high school curriculum.

There were so many awful people running to lead the party in 2016 and somehow they settled on Donald Trump. That seemed too much to be chance. I am convinced that they have not been failing to find the best, but are instead doing an amazing job trying to find the worst.

Apt description. As someone else said, the Republicans seem to be able to find the worst and dimmest. It’s shocking that someone more ignorant than Palin could be found. This makes me worry about Trump’s replacement. I can’t imagine someone worse, but apparently my imagination is limited.

Well, kind of. It’s a whole culture, though. There are the “assholes” and then there are those that are the victims of the assholes, whose lives get mired in dysfunction through no choices of their own, because of the environment they’re in. And the assholes are a highly specific sub-set of assholes.

I read this as a variant of “Osama Bin Laden” and only realized afterward that “bin” was serving as an English word. That’s pretty great!
