If I were a democrat Iād just straight up ask Mueller if Mueller believes that Trump:
Cooperated with the Russian governmentās attempt to influence the election
Attempted to interfere with the investigation of that attempt to influence the election
Do the whole, āI donāt need to remind you that lying to Congress is a crime.ā
Itās not a court, thereās no judge to object to. Congress is absolutely allowed to ask people their opinions. Mueller may wriggle out of saying āyesā but itās basically impossible to say ānoā.
The bit that I watched was very frustrating, because every time someone would ask his thoughts or opinions on collusion or crime, heād just defer to his report. Not answering yes or no, just āThe report is my testimony,ā or āI defer to the words of the report.ā
Yeah, to that Iād say, "Excuse me, sir, that is a report of the Office of the Special Counsel while you were employed there. That is not your report. I am asking for your opinion. I mean, how are they not ready for him to say that.
Speaking of walking back, seems like Fox and Breitbart have abandoned the āTotal Exonerationā line now that heās on video with eyes watching saying, āDoes not exonerateā.
Now focusing on character assassination, and projections of strength (i.e. unhinged yelling about nonsense and how Mueller seemed āFlusteredā or āConfusedā in reaction)
Who the heck knows what it all means. Guess we will find out when the polls catch up on Friday or Saturday. (Prediction: They wonāt budge hardly)
i find it nuts that the hearings are confirming over and over the cases of Trump and his people willing seeking information and giving information to the Russians and Trump repeatedly trying to obstruct the investigationā¦ that everyone is basically āwell, no new info here so nothing we can doā.
like basically the consensus seems to be unless we get a check from trump to putin with a memo saying āplz hide the pee tapeā, nobody is gonna do anything.
The part that I watched was very baffling in relation to that. First you have Democrats confirming with Mueller repeatedly that Trump prevented his staff from responding to subpoenas, withheld requested evidence, and that Trump himself not only completely refused to sit for an interview but also refused to answer written questions. And they also confirmed that the report itself was unable to conclusively state that Trump or his administration actively worked with Russia because of the lack of cooperation.
Yet somehow the Republicans also get Mueller to agree that Trump did not engage in obstruction of justice.
If blocking evidence, refusing subpoenas, and ignoring interview requests isnāt literally obstructing justice, Iām a little confused as to what the term means.
I feel like Republicans are finding themselves able to take advantage of the OLCās āyou canāt indict a presidentā memo as it pertains to Mueller and his history as a prosecutor. From what I can surmise, Mueller is unwilling to directly accuse the president of a crime like obstruction of justice because he canāt be indicted for it (thereby giving Republicans their win), but he can present all of the relevant evidence and say to Congress āgosh, look at all of this stuff he did, maybe you should, I dunno, do something about it?ā (thereby raising the question of why Democrats have had all of this material for 5 months and not done anything with it, which I guess is a win if you pour pepper juice in your eyes and squint at it really hard).
