Well trump didnāt say it, he re-posted someone elseās flattery of him. And yes he is dangerous. I just donāt care that some sycophant is claiming people love him. The underlying story: that Netanyahu is shaping policy to flatter trump, is yes, terrifying. When they said āClapton is godā they didnāt literally mean he was god or that anyone worshipped him as a deity. They just meant they thought he was great. In this case some idiot is saying Israelis think heās great. I think the statement is misleading. But the words are hyperbole.
It definitely started as silly driving trollies ā I saw the gold-tower-in-Greenland photo making its way around Twitter long before someone on Trumpās team saw it and posted it for a laugh. Even Denmark said āitās just driving trolliesā and waved it off. But then he cancelled an entire planned diplomatic visit and literally blamed it on the sale of Greenland being turned down, so while Trumpās team might have a sense of humor and hyperbole, Trump himself seems to take all of this stuff 100% literally.

If it is the same then we ought to pay attention. The āmore popular than Jesusā quip was not meant as hyperbole. Lennon was saying that there was more excitement for the Beatles than there was for the church. Lennon genuinely believed that religion was on the decline in the world (owing to it being bullshit) and that rock and roll might outlast world religions. Lennon may have been right.
Iām not outraged that Trump quoted a conspiracy theorist who say he was like the King of Israel. Iām a little bit terrified by it. The disturbing part is less what Root - who Iād never heard of - had to say, it was the part Trump contributed: āThank you to Wayne Allyn Root for the very nice words.ā
Thatās fucking weird. If someone called me the King of Israel on Twitter I would not quote them or retweet them, I would block them.
And I know, we donāt need more evidence that Trump is a clueless narcissist, completely out of touch with reality and drowned in a need for approval. But any discussion about Trump is always a discussion about that.

Youāre close to what Iām trying to say. I donāt think itās blasphemous because I donāt think theyāre being literal and I donāt care. The issue that may be concerning is if a large number of Israeli citizens approve of him generally. Iām not even sure how true that is. I personally know A couple Israelis who live in New York who hate his guts. I know they have their own right wing assholes over there tho.

I canāt imagine heās winning any hearts and minds with any of this. If youāre Jewish and you hate trump, and trump comes to insult the idea of you not falling in line, youād probably hate him even moreā¦ my hope is that that low approval rating he canāt seem to break out of reflects the polls next year. I wanna see him defeated by 60/40 or better.

Iām not saying isnāt full of it. Just that he isnāt literally claiming to be god or king. Just his usual āyes I am amazingā. Since my comment above I saw the clip of the press conference where he says āIām the chosen oneā, but even there the context was not that he literally thinks he is a religious savior, but the truth is just an ridiculous and more insidious: heās saying heās the only one that can solve the trade war he started with China.
