I need someone smart respectable famous and Black to clap back at that insane nonsense, ASAP.
Itās not click-bait, itās a much needed historical lesson. Sometimes we very much need to be face to face with the violence in our collective past, so that we donāt forget it or downplay it. More white people should become familiar with it, as it was done in our name, in some cases by our ancestors.
Story timeā¦ I had a prof, who one year did an exhibit at a local African American history museum, which was a collection of postcards of lynchings (yes, those existedā¦ they would also sell human fingers and toes of the lynched). She gives one of the first tours, and sheās leading the group around, talking about the images. They stop in front of one display, and a man looks down, points and says, āthatās my uncle.ā So, African Americans in the south tend to be intimately familiar with such things, because it most likely happened to a family member or someone they knew or their family knew. Whites, not so much.
Here you go.
Thank you.
Why canāt it be both?
In this case, Iād argue itās not. Click-bait generally implies some nefarious purpose (sensationalism to make money), as opposed to something worthwhile. Having this is worthwhile, due to lack of general knowledge of these events among many. And given that so many people actually zone out during history classes, AND how entire departments are currently being gutted or entire excised, people have to learn this somewhere.
Progressivesā have never had a single monolithic argument; some (such as I) do not want ISIS and similar terrorist organizations to gain footholds into countries wishing to be rid of terrorists. There are still Taliban and ISIS forces in Afghanistan, and I am for defeating them as I would have been for defeating NAZIās in WWII.
Wouldnāt just coming out and speaking directly to the people be more effective? Why a book?
'muricanās donāt read.
Once again, impeachment is a political, not legal process. You donāt get ādue processā. Secondly, how many failed impeachment gambits were floated against Obama? Finally, maybe consider reading the constitution. Here it is in comic book form:
I donāt think so, I think itās more like an unceasing feeling of being bad and wrong and constantly running away from that feeling through impulsive behaviour. Some of these assholes you can explain in terms of a normal person reacting to their privileged circumstances. Iāll never believe Trump isnāt deeply disordered.
Like Trumpās burned body was found lashed to a post? Damn, I have to agree with Lindsay that congress went too far.
Part of acting ambassador to Ukraine Bill Taylorās testimony to Congress:
Look, itās not extortion or quid pro quo, itās just Good Business! You always get the person youāre paying to pony up before you pay them. Says the guy whoās stiffed pretty much everyone heās ever contracted for anything.
Wow, itās justa business.
Iāll have the ravioli thanks.
Time has the whole statement up:
Bravo Mr Taylor.
JHC the part about setting up code phrases. Trump is running a fucking Mafia.
Why is Rudy not in jail?
I knew the words āquid pro quoā were going to end up being used to confuse. It literally means āsomething for somethingā - like every single business transaction ever. āHeās a businessmanā is just another way to admit wrongdoing, not that I expect Sonland to understand that.
Itās one of the few commonly used Latin phrases in American English that Iād thought most people of average intelligence grokedā¦
No. Not a Lynching.
I will agree that this entire administration has been Lynchian, but thatās another thing entirely.
They even made postcards to send to friends and family.
We need to remember we are all not that far removed from that history.
Oh God, itās almost as if theyāre trying to get a cat to stop peeing in random corners by teaching it to go in the toilet
