That graphic must be outdated. I think they added Heathens some years back (probably a hammer sigil).

ETA: I missed it. It is in there, just stylized. Did not clock it as a hammer.

That atom symbol for atheists is pretty awesome.

Works for me, since I believe in the almighty powers of nuclear energy and the St. Louis Arch!

Mid '90’s. It may have been a case that the lady preparing my dog tags ‘wouldnt’ put Atheist, I dont know.

Nowadays you can have Jedi Knight on your dog tags, but pretty sure there’s no corresponding headstone glyph!

Yes. My mom had that. It’s for the time before you’re in immediate threat of death. They also had consecrated hosts prepared so she could take communion at home when she was too ill to go to church. It meant a lot to her.

So - I’m grateful for that - even as a nonbeliever and critic.

I’m glad she got all that. It seemed to be soothing for my dad as well in the last months of his life. It was good he was able to square things up for himself.

But it was kind of a curveball for us, as my dad had not gone to church in years. I still don’t know what happened to make him break with the church, but we rarely went to catholic services when I was a kid - if we did, it was with one of my aunts or my grandparents. My dad’s youngest sister is easily the most devout of the lot of them. She’s pretty involved in her church.

My mom didn’t believe much of what the church had to say on some issues- but after she stopped driving the school bus - she went to mass every morning.

Sounds like my grandfather in retirement. He went often (probably not every day, but more than once a week) and he was active in the Knights of Columbus. He and other members would go to the local jail and give communion to prisoners. when he died, one of them drew a picture of Pop and sent it to the family. My aunt still has it in her living room…

For all it’s failings, there is a serious service aspect to Catholicism that is missing in some of the more calvinist leaning modern protestant churches, especially the prosperity doctrine churches. Also, there have been some truly radical catholics… Dorothy Day comes to mind. It would be nice if the church could get it’s regressive shit together and move forward to become a more inclusive church from the top down. Purge the church of pedophiles, allow priests to marry, open the priesthood up to women, embrace and support the LBGQT+ community, support women’s right to bodily autonomy, etc. All that seems far more in line with Jesus vision than the conservative elements within the church would like to defend.

But if we allowed all that, why would people even NEED to go to church?!

“TREASON? First, the Left cried Quid Pro Quo, then bribery, and now TREASON? This entire HOAX has been JERRY-RIGGED by the Radical Democrats and we cannot put up with it any longer,”

I mean, hey, it’s already attacking minority House representatives, let’s throw in some more racist terms while we’re at it.
