Per Jason Chatfield, the artist of this political cartoon was fired for it, and it wasn’t even run in the paper (content warning: dead child):
We all know that Trump would never follow courtesy and protocol enough to ever say anything that nicely.
I don’t see anything more shocking than what is already happening around us. I hope there’s a GoFundMe or something in the short term.
This is one of the better political cartoons I have ever seen, and it does exactly what a political cartoon is supposed to do.
Well, you know, it’s an extension of the civility rationale.
A Canadian editorial cartoonist fired? Fired from where: Toronto Star, Hill Times, Halifax Herald…?
eta: New Brunswick papers. Small league stuff.
Halifax Herald
The Toronto Star went with a Greg Perry this morning. Similar subject, but less gut impact.
Likely impactful to an artist’s revenue stream, just the same.
Yes, but now it’s news and can be safely reported on.
The State Run Media needs to stay on the case.
In a way, this is a Trumpian event, because this new normal is keeping even the Democratic party from doing what it needs to do to pull us out before it’s too late:
I’m seriously worried that the Democrats will spend so much time attacking each other that they will be too exhausted to go after trump.
And, narcissism of small differences being what it is, some of the electorate will vote for trump (or not vote at all) rather than vote for the Democratic candidate.
CCue the angry tweet storm from daddy defending Ivanka’s business smarts and suggesting that Angela Merkel wouldn’t be having any trouble holding her governing coalition together if she would only pay more attention to her appearance.
Unlike Trump, Kim is no idiot. He’s playing Trump like a fiddle.
Oh, and remember when Trump used Otto Warmbier’s family as props and political pawns? So much for that!
