Maybe the takeover won’t be all that bad.
Pence is highly uncharismatic. He also only represents 1/3 of the unholy trinity of the GOP base: the hyper-religious third. He’s almost the polar opposite of the pro-business 1/3. He would have some policy differences with the Nazi 1/3, though it is a given that those Venn diagram circles all overlap to some degree, the bulk do not. I don’t think he can hold that coalition together.
Ah, in other words, “never.”
“We’ll see what happens.”
Every. Time. Ugh.
Which is why, if he’s planning a 25th amendment coup, he’ll wait until after the election…
I think this comment needs illustrations.
You know, based upon what we know of how President Biff thinks, there are other reasons that spring to mind before getting into possible health issues:
- This was a loyalty test. Bullies in the business world love giving nonsensical orders. They claim it is to test loyalty, but the reality is that they just love seeing how their underlings demean themselves. It’s all about domination and submission, about forcing others into humiliating situations.
- President Biff was getting cold feet, as it became clear that his event was going to be a ratings flop. Some of his staff decided to call the understudy in, just in case Biff locked himself in the bedroom and refused to come out.
- It was a stunt to juice ratings, by making people want to turn in, to see if Biff would show up or if the dorky understudy was going to do the speech. Biff loves attention, and doesn’t care who else pays the price, as long as everyone is looking at him.
In the end, I guess Biff was lucky that his show attracted so few viewers, because that meant less people had to see him stumble through a prepared speech where he lacked the self-awareness needed to laugh off his slip of the tongue.
I am grateful for the speculation here, because I played with it, myself.
Did not see any other forum, either.
I thought of something along the lines of your #2, but not close.
I forgot about the “parade” but I thought maybe they couldn’t get Trump out of his bedroom. (He locked the door and refused to come out.)
I think he is deathly afraid of the 12 - 14 cases farmed out to NY, NJ, VA, and one other state? If he doesn’t win re-election, he should have most of his estate confiscated by SDNY and spend the next 25 years in jail. (I know his age.) Same w/Kid Kush, Ivanka, and Biff, Jr. Eric can do the family visits and reup Donnie’s commissary credit.
Oh I’m sure trump will pardon his family of “current and future crimes”. And I would be surprised if he didn’t try to pardon himself on the second to last day of his presidency, resign and have pence (the boy scout who doesn’t do actual crimes, just virtual ones) pardon him.
Remember, I mentioned the 12-14 cases farmed out by Mueller. Those are state, not federal jurisdiction.
Pardoning does not apply here.
If you think about our history for a minute, you might determine, as I did, that nobody ever determined a corrupt and venal president could pardon himself. Oh, sure, he may try. And fail, spectacularly.
Pence might, you are right.
Still, Pence can only pardon for federal crimes.
If he is impeached, can he be pardoned?
I think or hope the timing will be such that Pence will somehow disappear off the planet’s stage and Bernie Sanders will be in the WH.
I like Bernie, but I’d prefer someone who’s not older than dirt being president. Honestly I’d be happy with nearly all the current Dem candidates, but I do have my favorites and none of them are so old we have to worry about them dying in office of natural causes.
I would be happy with only two, but favor Bernie as POTUS. Older, wiser, consistent, & more trustworthy than any 21 candidates put together + any since 1960. My big issue is climate destruction, and except for Steyer and Inslee (neither who can or should
win), Bernie is committed.
Let him pick a VP like Warren or Gabbard, then.
But, I respect your opinion.
There is an incredible difference in philosophies, even though many claim to be "progressive, " which is why most are worthless (to me).
I’m not sure most Americans see that as a selling point.
You got me!
I am usually more grammatically correct than that.
Thank you.
