Guess I’m not as smart as the dudes around here. At least that’s the impression I’ve been getting this week.
Whoever came up with that stupid term is the dumbass, not you.
dobbs also uses dimm as a synonym for Democrat, as in “lead dimm Chuck Schumer”.
That ranks somewhere below Demoncraps in the pantheon of stupid terms for Democrats.
Schoolyard name-calling.
I wonder if any studies confirm my suspicion that the right does that far more then the left (not that I don’t indulge in it sometimes).
Clearly I’m too stupid to engage in this conversation. So, the three time this week that I’ve been pushed out of a conversation.
No just uninformed, cause those were new to me, and now that I know… well maybe just a better sense of decorum too. Whee lets call em dumb names on a national news show… head > desk.
No, just not smart. I’ll never be smart enough to engage some people here, so I’m not sure why I even try.
Head bigger than desk?
head into desk…
or text version of this
Because head->desk is the desk property of the object being pointed at by head.
Or I should have used that… but coffee is still not into the bloodstream yet… so it is what it is.
A little perspective here, Mindy?
Lou Dobbs seems a rather deplorable human being. He panders to a base that seeks to overturn the very basic tenets of democratic government, simply because the ideals are promoted by the political opposition.
So your mind has immediately discarded the analogies that Dobbs and his ilk promote. Is that not something to be proud of? Can you not shout it from the rooftops? “I AM NOT STUPID ENOUGH TO BELIEVE THAT”
Umm…
I’m trying to make sense of the latest interactions in this thread, and I’m having a hard time understanding the use of that gif. My assumption is you are using it to tell @jerwin their post was condescending. I do not see what in their post is interpreted that way; would you be willing to explain your reasoning so I might better understand?
I was actually referring to how I was responded to about what a word meant. Basically, “how can you not get that”. This has been a common theme this week.
Not to speak for anyone, but It seems to me that in the process of telling Mindy that she should declare herself not stupid enough to believe the claims of Dobbs (and also that, like a good little girl, she should be proud of herself for her incredulity), Jerwin implies that she IS stupid enough to not understand Dobbs correctly, and thus needs an explanation of how he panders to his audience.
That’s the thing, I didn’t understand a particular term, and I got talked down to for it. I don’t watch Dobbs, so I don’t know what terminology he uses on a regular basis, and though I’m well aware of what a dhimmi is, I’ve never heard the term “dimm” used in that context… I had no problem with @jerwin’s original response to me, because he was clearly attempting to clarify what it COULD mean. Other responses were less inclined to assume I have an actual brain in my head.
Thank you.
I reject the implication.
Can’t we all agree that a good portion of the BBS is comprised of social misfits who don’t pick up on these sorts of emotional cues?
On a different note, “globalism” is a word that’s tinged with anti-Semitism, but that’s a disturbing double meaning, and it may not be the connotation that everybody desires. I’m somewhat loath to recommend Andrew Sullivan, ever since he took the time to deliberately restep in to the little shitball that’s The Bell Curve, but in a recent column he averred that some of these concerns have more of a basis than liberals give them credit for.
