I predict that Don Jr. will make some kind of âgrand gestureâ of resigning from the Trump Org. to defuse the situation, all the while maintaining that this was entirely his idea and that his dad knew nothing (which, since heâs incompetent, is believable).
But you guys are all burying the lede! Hillary did something incriminating! Remember folks, the Trump admin has always stood by the principle that the content of the leak is more important than the act of leakingâŚ/s
Black is white in Trumpâs America you say? Why yes, if weâre talking about how âblack people are systematically suppressing white votes.â and the American Civil Rights Union, really? Yes, we definitely see what you did there you nazi fuck.
Trump applauds his son implicating himself, Jared Kushner, and Paul Manafort, explicitly spelling out that theyâre working with Russia to get Trump elected? Well, okay then.
So in their eyes, actual written evidence stating, flat-out, from the Presidentâs son and head of Trump Org., that Russia was colluding to aid in Trumpâs election is⌠not evidence?
The mental gymnastics here are just unreal. âHe didnât get any dirt so it doesnât matter.â âItâs just opposition research.â âHeâs a private citizen!â and so on.
Itâs being reported that trump senior made a statement just days after asshole jrs meeting to the effect of having damaging info about Hillary very soon. Hmmmm. Daddy knew all along didnât he?
Trumpâs approval rating since February among Republicans has been rock solid. What does the Trump team have to do for them to start dumping him? Eat a live baby on television?
The GOP legislature wonât oppose Trump until the GOP base does, and the GOP base will never turn on Trump so long as he remains a bigoted authoritarian thug. That is what they want in a leader,
You canât wait for Trump to go away on his own; he wonât. Yâall have the power to bring him down, but you have to use it.
Every city Trump visits should be turned into a peaceful siege, maintained until he leaves. Paralyse the government and economy; do not allow business as usual to continue, and keep it up for as long as necessary. Do not clear the streets when ordered to by the police.
This ainât a weekend hobby activity; fighting for the survival of American democracy is going to cost you. In time and effort, and very likely blood as well.
Itâs fun to imagine that youâre addressing the entire population of America, and that it will, as one being, decide to follow your advice, but thatâs not how it is.
You saw Occupy Wall Street. No more than a small minority will ever physically rebel, and it will never take more than a few weeks for politicians and the media to turn the rest of the public against the protesters. This is the situation we have to deal with.
Youâre free to show us how itâs done in the streets of Australia if you like.
Australia isnât under the control of a world-threatening fascist government or in possession of the most oversized military in history; I have no sufficient reason to try to topple it.
I get that creating sustained mass civil unrest isnât an easy thing to do. But I donât accept that itâs impossible, for the simple reason that itâs been achieved many times in many other countries. If the people of Argentina etc can manage it, so can the people of the USA.
Besides: what is the alternative? Judicial and democratic remedies are obviously failing, and the current trajectory appears clearly headed towards mass human casualties if not resolved. The American state under TrumpGOP represents a lethal threat to all people everywhere, and the American people have by far the best chance of stopping it.
If you could time travel to Berlin in the early '30âs, what advice would you give?
Trump is reaching back to the Civil War for ideas on taxes. For lack of any other ideas.
âTrump and his economic advisers have proposed ending the individual federal tax deduction for state and local taxes paidâa write-off with Civil-War era roots that has survived past attempts to kill it. Advocates for Trumpâs plan have sold it in part as a way to shift more taxes onto high-income, high-tax states like California, New York and New Jersey, all of which lean Democratic.â
Is that Sessions skipping down the Mall again to the sound of Dixie?..
Weâve been having massive protests since the day he was elected. Millions of people in the streets of our nationâs capital, peacefully marching, repeatedly. Weâve had huge protests in all of our major cities, again and again. But this is a really, really big country, and a huge number of people still strongly support Trump, especially in the vast rural areas. Sure, the people in the cities can have sustained mass civil unrest, but we arenât Argentina or South Korea. Our Congress has to act to remove or replace him â the peoplesâ representatives â and right now, theyâre solidly supporting the president.
Congress is not going to solve your problems for you. Congress is the problem.
Trump is just the tip of the pustule; getting rid of him still leaves the country permanently in the hands of a shamelessly corrupt fascist party. Thatâs a fact that needs to be accepted in order for there to be any chance of an effective response.
1960âs style brief symbolic street theatre protests wonât cut it. Whatâs required is closer to a general strike; if it doesnât cause massive disruption, it isnât doing the job. Polite, law-abiding non-disruptive protest is pointless.
But you donât want to just trash the blue cities while leaving the red suburbs untouched. So, target Trump. Target his money.
Mar-a-Lago should be under permanent siege. So should every building with Trump in its name. So should Congress and the White House. So should the corporate headquarters and industrial/transport/retail facilities of every 0.01%er supporting Trump.
You need to make it impossible for rich people to get richer while the TrumpGOP is in power.
