I think it all depends on where you stand. McConnell nor Trump think of themselves as being the baddies. They are certain that what they are doing is what is best for the country. And if they can get a little personal enrichment out of the deal, so much the better. With a few notable exceptions, you canāt succeed in national politics without getting dirty, regardless of the D or the R next to your name.
I think that itās pretty difficult to defend filibustering to prevent poor people from getting health care, promising to block your opponentās every law ā no matter what it may ever be, or passing laws that almost immediately result in the deaths of elderly people on the basis of āweāre the good guys hereā.
I agree. I donāt know how they can sleep at night. And yet you have to know that they do. On their piles and piles of money, they sleep like angels. They serve different masters is all.
But my original point was one of optimism. That you can take a little satisfaction knowing that our side wonāt always be on the bottom, and for every insulting rule change that they fuck us with today, they will be fucked by it in due course.
