A round up of Trumpian events šŸ–•šŸŠšŸ¤”

Poor infowarrior, that lady is barely one third awake and yet she was easily able to completely shred those poorly thought through talking points

This whole thing involving Trump and her just keeps getting classier and classier as the weeks go byā€¦

This came up on my twitter feed this morning. Unexpectedly entertaining, if a bit crass.

The last line of the article.

Yep that sounds about right.

I have some beefs with the analysis in that article:

Daniels calling Roseanne* ā€œignorantā€ seems off, unless Daniels expects the exact details of her porn oeuvre to be widely known. Rude, irrelevant, and presumably inaccurateā€¦ but not ignorant.

First of all, she may well being calling Roseanne ignorant because she thinks Roseanne is generally ignorant (e.g., conspiracy theories) rather than because this incident shows her ignorance. But beyond that, not knowing whether or not Stormy Daniels does one type of scene or another is certainly not ā€œignorantā€ writ large, but it is ignorant of Stormy Danielsā€™ movies. And ignorance of the thing you are choosing to comment on does speak badly of your choice to comment on it.

Also, if what Daniels is saying is true, the Star-Spangled Banner slam is actually not a good analogy. If Daniels doesnā€™t do anal movies, then itā€™s not like Roseanne singing that one time. It would be fitting if Daniels did an anal movie once, and it was a notoriously lousy film; then the analogy would work. What Daniels is doing is like saying Roseanne is known for, say, wearing velour Juicy tracksuits if she had never actually worn one before (or something equally unclassy).

I think this is uncharitable. She specifically referenced Roseannes ā€œbeautiful rendition of the national anthemā€ (emphasis mine). Given that Roseanneā€™s rendition of the national anthem is infamously bad (Iā€™ve never heard it myself, but Iā€™ve heard of it) her ā€œbeautiful renditionā€ of the national anthem does not exist.

We donā€™t know if Daniels has or has not done anal movies. Our fact-checkers have their limits. Youā€™ll just have to figure that out yourself if you really have to know.

I guess it is possible that Avenatti told her to write that, thinking that Trump would immediately respond with links to the relevant movies to show sheā€™s lying.

* I donā€™t default to referring to women by their first rather than their last name, but Roseanne is Roseanne.

No, actually I want everyone involved with 45 to walk off a pier thatā€™s built on the mouth of an active volcano.

Are you sure this topic is worth that much of your energy?

Myself, Iā€™d just as soon walk off a pier.

Or for that matter, listen once again to the Good ol SSB.

While I can understand why you would suggest this, I think more of the energy it would have taken me to not analyze those comments, and then the energy it would have taken me to keep my thoughts to myself, and I feel I made the right call.

Yeah, I can see that, always good to see you doing you. I actually enjoyed reading that comment, as always with yours.

tl;dr is that while unemployment is down, prosperity isnā€™t going up. The labor market is largely a race to the bottom.

Yep. Yet you listen to the news, even friggin NPR, and all you hear is how great these numbers are, if a slight bit puzzling because the number of new ā€œjobsā€ this month isnā€™t as high as expected, etc etc. Letā€™s ask this here economist how he reads these tea leaves!

The shitty economic conditions of most U.S.ians, let alone whatā€™s caused it, are almost always just plain off the media map.

And keep in mind that US unemployment is significantly worse than it appears:

The Tillerson State Department didnā€™t respond to guidance from senior diplomats telling them not to cancel TPS for Haitian refugees in the US. Stephen Miller took it upon himself to call the State Department and tell them to go ahead with the cancellation. I dont remember electing Stephen Miller, or seeing him confirmed. WTF? I just canā€™t evenā€¦ Itā€™s too much.

Maybe Trump didnā€™t pay for the settlement after all.

A shell company that Michael D. Cohen used to pay hush money to a pornographic film actress received payments totalling more than US$1-million from an American company linked to a Russian oligarch and several corporations with business before the Trump administration, according to documents and interviews.
