And then some.

Can it be collusion if you are a wholly owned subsidiary? Asking for a friend.

OTOH, he’s known for saying one thing and doing another. It might as well say “Trump OK with boiled turnips over mylar capacitor.” It’s like playing checkers without a checkerboard. Though instead of checkers, there’s a can of frozen orange juice concentrate.

And these are the same people who believe in the Rapture?

I’ve had at least 2 interactions with social media commenters where I asked for a specific date by which the Second Coming (or The Rapture) would occur. They provided one, and I put it on my calendar to check back in with them.

Both times, they’d deleted their social media accounts.

Given what a waste the last shutdown was in lost time, money, and reputation - all for nothing, why not do it again? It’s the art of the deal.

WASHINGTON — The newly-emboldened Democratic Party is in disarray today after President Trump announced on social media that the United States Constitution is no longer canon.

The tweet, seen below, was part of a fifty-three part thread about the government shutdown.

I’ve said for years U.S.A Constitution a weak document written by fools in wigs. Very boring, like Star Wars Extended Universe! Many people have whispered about it but only Trump is brave enough to declare the US Con. is NO LONGER CANON!

Democratic leadership were taken aback by the sweeping, unilateral change in the lore of the United States.

“Who does he think he is, J.K. Rowling?” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on CNN. “This is a sad day for any American especially those like me that have fond memories cosplaying the Bill of Rights during the Bicentennial ConCon 1976 in the capital. Shit, we’ll have to completely retcon our country’s backstory. Also, I need AOC to explain to me what retconning is.”

Regarding another shut down: I heard people talking like that would just never happen. But I feel like they are just unable to cope with reality. I think Trump would absolutely shut it down again. They think too much in terms of ephemeral ideas like pain and pressure that they can’t actually quantify in the real world.

From my perspective Pelosi has the senate in a real bind - she can say, “Look, I’m going to give you $5.7B to make Trump happy, and you have to do whatever I want, otherwise Trump is going to shut down the government again and you are all screwed.”

But really the shut down is in their hands. If they wanted to they could put through a bill to end the possibility of future shut downs (or, more realistically, to extend funding for six months), but they might have to override Trump to get it. So it’s a question of whether McConnell thinks that he is hurt more by 1) giving into Pelosi, 2) rebuking Trump, 3) another shut down.

I have a pretty good read on the mentality of a lot of people, but I have absolutely no idea how McConnell makes decisions. Is another shut down just too politically damaging for his party for him to fathom? Is rebuking Trump to politically damaging for himself for him to accept? Is letting a woman get the better of him to ego damaging for him to accept? Where’s the balance point.

As far as I can tell McConnell is just constantly testing the waters to see how nakedly corrupt and partisan he can be without losing his own seat, and there doesn’t seem to be a bottom yet…

That’s why I can’t figure out what he’s doing. Normally people who are being corrupt and partisan are doing to towards some end not as an end in itself. Is he trying to keep his seat? To funnel money into his own pockets? To destroy the country? Honestly, I just can’t get my head around it.
