There’s a deep understanding of what death is that can come from the loss of a loved one, and then there’s not understanding death, like a four year old who asks you how a dead person gets food when they are buried in the ground.
I think maybe Schumer is just a dolt. but this move strikes me as brilliant politics even if by accident. It would be hard for Republicans to vote against named a building after a senate colleague and war hero. At the same time it will piss Donald Trump off royally. Plus it’s taking a notable racist’s name off the building, which will anger Trump’s base. I feel like it’s probably not entirely by accident. Schumer must have some clever staff, right?
It’s petty gotcha bullshit that will:
Meanwhile, Flint still doesn’t have clean water. Etc.
A fair point well made! Schumer is either playing politics in the senate with no real world effect or he actually just wants to name a building after McCain. Americans are choosing between the poison-the-water party and the look-we-voted-against-poisoning-the-water-but-its-done-now-and-its-not-financially-responsible-to-unpoison-it-at-this-time party. I know the inclination to watch politics like a game of sportsball is a major reason the problems continue.
A notable Democratic Party racist. It’s one less thing for the right to point to when making their anachronistic claim that Democratic Party is the party of slavery and the KKK.
Spoiler: trump can veto
They should auction off the naming rights to the highest bidder, a proper reflection of what happens inside it.
What the actual shit?
Beginning to wish Discourse had a signatures feature so I could just automatically end all of my posts with “[sounds of continuous, unending screaming into an infinite and shapeless void]”…
Yup.
Indiana folks.
I have family there. I am pretty sure it would have the same reputation as Florida if they had the same open records policy.
I’m fairly confident that if the cops who run the active shooter trainings where my mom teaches had done that to her, she’d have murdered them on the spot. They’re already afraid of her after the last training they had. One of the officers told everyone they needed to be unpredictable, so when the “shooter” went into my mom’s classroom, she picked up a chair, screamed bloody murder, and rushed the guy until she had him pinned between the chair legs against the blackboard.
He was not expecting that.
Christ, What an asshat.
I suspect his view of free speech bears little resemblance to anything we would recognize as such.
I think I fluv your mom.
So this means that George Mason University will have to let socialist speakers on campus, right? (Hell, non-right-Libertarians.)
But it’s all ok. Nothing to see here. Move along.
