UFC: Fight Island sounds like a great set up for a post-apocalyptic story; hopefully not ripped from tomorrow’s headlines.
Umm - there’s something different about you today. Can’t quite see it…
I’m experimenting with a new mascara. Does it work? Too much?
Yeah - too much - you’re supposed to put it on your eyes.
Not on absolutely everything below your eyes!
There was a trade-off to be made here: Some temporarily reduced security vs. the deaths of seamen due to a massive outbreak of COVID-19. I doubt there are a lot of ventilators on an aircraft carrier.
Moreover, I think it’s pretty clear the reduction of security is minimal - do you really think the high commands around the world aren’t aware of the the effect of COVID-19 on people in confined quarters? Moreover, the longer-term security risk of having a carrier essentially depopulated with literally thousands of cases cannot be discounted either.
History is full of commanders that mindlessly risked soldiers lives for no gain because to do otherwise was to risk their career. To its credit, It has been one of the hallmarks of the American military forces that leaders have occasionally been willing to take initiative when required despite the chain of command. I think if Crozier’s name is remembered, it will be as one such officer.
Navy is running out of leeway anyone else read this?
Yes it’s a well researched report. Swiss-cheese model in full effect.
You gotta admire his weasel-like skills in handling this part of his non-pology: “I apologize for any confusion this choice of words may have caused. I also want to apologize to directly to Captain Crozier, his family, and the entire crew of the Theodore Roosevelt for any pain my remarks may have caused.”
In other words, “I’m sorry if you thin-skinned-little-pussies are too stupid to understand the subtle difference between stupidity and treason when I called your stupid captain ‘stupid’ when I really intended to call him a ‘traitor’.” That’s not even a nonpology – he doubled down all around on the insults.
Obligatory:
USS Theodore Roosevelt sailor is in intensive care after testing positive for coronavirus
There better not be one single death from covid-19 among the sailors on that ship.
