After his coronavirus test, Rand Paul continued to work at U.S. Capitol for 6 days

of course he kept working, his cult insists it’s all a hoax and overreaction

now they don’t even have enough members for majority so they are terrified to call a vote

and check out the press conference right now, Barr is looking really green under the gills

Not sure if this adds any clarity to Paul’s “Dr.” title.

In the US, if you graduate from medical school (4 years), you are a doctor. You are not qualified to actually go into practice at that point, but you are a doctor.

If you then complete a residency in a specialty field like Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, etc. (4,5,6,7+ years), you are that specialist.

You can then pass boards to be “Board Certified” in your field but technically are not required to in order to practice. BUT, and this is a big one, you will run into issues getting on insurance plans and receiving hospital privileges.

Board Certification was newer and less common back in the day (but I don’t know how back in the day Paul was).

[EDIT to correct my assumption: Paul passed his boards but objected to the recertification process 10 years later, so started his own “board”]

Having said all of that, I would not trust a doctor / surgeon who was that far out of practice. And continuing to use the title is… let’s say odd.

There should be enough clews for the morbidly curious, but I’ve been told that I shouldn’t link to such things.

He’s not a practicing physician. He’s a very long time practicing politician. This is the point. And he’s not a practicing asshole. That seems to come naturally, no practice necessary.

Does anyone else remember the Tea Party of the 21st century ?

What happen to those people ?

The criteria for testing don’t come off looking too good either, since he came back positive. Maybe they should add people who are in contact with a lot of old people to the priority testing group even if they aren’t symptomatic?

That’s a phony imitation - it’s for the Boing Boing excellence.

If Rand wants to keep working behind closed doors with all the other Republicans, I’m fine with that. Only good can come of that.

For 1, it will cause Republicans suffering they desperately deserve and maybe we’ll get lucky and they will selectively remove themselves from the gene pool.

Please send more idiots like Rand Paul behind closed doors with the president too

Better?

He’s a Gibbertarian. His entire political philosophy can be summed up as “Fuck you! You’re not my Mom!”

Splendiferous.

This is a club that I would belong to and I hope it will have me as a member.

Right, and that’s one thing, that he is no longer practicing, but he was an actual doctor… My point is that let’s not fall down into the conspiracy theory holes on shit like this.

No, his first certification was not at all. He’s no longer practicing either.

Go back and look at the wikipedias his first was, and he objected to change in their certification process… then he set up a fake board.

Did all that stuff get zapped out of his brain, because he no longer practices?

Guy is an asshole. Let’s note it for the right reasons here…

Not now, no, but everyone was saying he wasn’t EVER one, and that’s just false.

And what angered his neighbor? Senator Paul was ignoring the HOA rules because he was to self-important to follow them. Don’t get me wrong HOA rules are stupid and enforced by idiots. But RP CHOSE to move into a community that had them.

Which seems like a really odd choice for a libertarian shitweasle.
