You meet these people from time to time in real life. If you are a white collar worker, they mostly pass by unseen to you. Either they tend to be people who you end up chatting up in bars, festivals, craft shows, drum circles, gun shows, etc. or sometimes they are your colleagues who are keeping it on the DL.
At my last job, I got to take a trip to Tokyo. I made fast friends with the VP of the Asia Pacific region, and we went out drinking after work. After a few gin and tonics he told me after he retired he planned to invent a time machine. It went downhill from there, when I asked him how he planned to do that.
I also had a great aunt who would write my mom letters complaining about “The Gays” and Chemtrails. That great aunt when we were kids tossed our X-Men trading cards into the campfire screaming, “Pornography! Devilwork!”
This bit of apologism has been kicking around Breitbart and similar for a while. If you put yourself in Ryan’s shoes, it’s a bit of genius and a bit of desperation. Genius because he knows the right wing is eager for any plausible reason to make sense of Trump’s behavior, desperation because he was hoping he didn’t have to use this excuse.
Rob, does it make you weep that you, an immigrant, voted and 102 million American citizens didn’t, or are you seeing the silver lining in having crap news daily to inspire BB posts? Do you shudder, as I do, to see and hear anti-immigrant sentiments from “real good”, “patriotic” Americans?
I notice projection and protestation from the guilty, some I surmise may be actual pedophiles or ephebophiles (or very closely associated with pedophiles (Alan Dershowitz) or pedophilia-enablers.
I don’t understand why US citizens prefer to hang back and let racists, “pussygrabbers”, ephebophiles, pedophiles, child-snatchers, traitors, rapists, gun nuts, grifters and lunatics govern. It’s evident to me that the kompromat on many GOP legislators includes connections to child-traffickers and it’s evident to people outside the US that the Dotard allegedly preyed upon underage girls at parties, at least trying to grab their asses.
I wouldn’t risk libel upon BB by naming names, but I would bet the remainder of my house mortgage that at least two of the people screaming that Mueller must be stopped are sexual predators of children.
Maybe one has to have been underage among sexual predators, and/or have a basis of comparison in governments to see this, or consume news and commentary from non-US media sources, I dunno. This whole thing’s exacerbated my PTSD exponentially and I hardly talk to anyone in the US anymore, considering most of the US adult citizens either didn’t see what I saw or didn’t care.
Take this for what it’s worth (it’s 2nd hand), but a friend of mine in Austin saw Jones in a restaurant, where he was calm and spoke in a manner that (1) most of us would prefer to be on the receiving end and (2) employed a tone that most of us would hope others would use in a restaurant. Basically the opposite of how he presents himself via his program.
I have a feeling that particular petard may hoist Jones in a particularly inconvenient way/place when it gets raised during arguments about his attempt to get the defamation lawsuit filed by Sandy Hook parents dismissed. Alex Jones a Woodward or Bernstein is not.
It’s like trying to battle entropy with these chucklefucks. If all you want if for things to fall apart, your business/legal plan can be pretty “flexible”
I think for Jones the primary question is the same as that of the more incendiary right-wing politicians these days: “What public claim can I make that is most likely to get me into headlines for the next news-and-social-media cycle?”
This very BB article, in reporting it, plays directly into this strategy.
