Came here to mention Ameristan, in Dodge in Hell.
Stephenson absolutely nailed it. Again. As usual.
I won’t put a spoiler here in this thread, but y’all, if you get a chance, even if you can’t stand Stephenson’s digressions (I love them), it’s totally worth just reading the Ameristan part of the book, which happens in the first half of the novel. It’s that scary combo of spot-on, tragic, and hilarious.
Oh that’s comedy gold!

Bodhisattvas?
this is a fantastic joke on several levels. Jesus was nailed to a cross as part of crucifixion torture/execution, so it’s ‘edgy’. The question ‘what gun would jesus have’ pokes fun at american gun-craze mindset. And finally, Jesus was a carpenter, so he would likely use a nailgun if he existed in modern times.
That’s THREE LEVELS of joke! You just don’t get that kind of quality content for free.
Yasssss I loved the Friendly Giant!!! I am definitely a better person for having watched so many hours of that show.
Thanks for the nostalgia

Right wing education clearly has a lot of gaps in the curriculum.
Tell that to Ananias and Saphhira (Acts 5:1-10)
