The original laws against cannabis were pushed by associating pot with Mexicans, black people, and musicians. I’m not shocked if conservatives still aren’t huge fans.
That being said, I would have thought that there’s a strong enough conservative argument for legalization, in terms of personal liberty, increased tax revenue, and depriving criminals of income.
I haven’t really followed the debate on the bill since it was proposed. In my mind it was already pretty much a done deal
