probably missed the PSA/warning for credulous ol’ farts (such as me) but this is a shtick she does (the white gloves are the give-away)

Green portrays the satirical character Mrs. Betty Bowers, “America’s Best Christian”, created and written by writer Andrew Bradley. linky

Yes, I suppose she’s not as well known as Randy Rainbow or Jonathan Pie, though I’ve been seeing her bits pop up in various places for quite awhile now. She deserves some fame! I think her shtick is brilliant.

I can remember when Murdoch started this “War on Christmas” stuff…way back in the 70’s when he was running suburban newspapers in Sydney. Shopping centers always wanted extended opening hours and parking at Christmas and Local Governments that refused to play along were summarily accused of waging a “War on Christmas”.

I remember Betty Bowers as a sort of The Onion fake editorial character on The Landover Baptist Church website over 20 years ago. It is great that the character was given flesh by Deven Green and that is has been able to endure for this long. She has the perfect look for the character but I imagined she was going to be more like a Kitty Carlisle or Scott Thompson in drag type character. Green nails about 95% of the character, in my humble opinion.

Is there a Bowers AI? Because I swear there is something amiss with the voiceover.

Maybe Satan.
