Ammon Bundy and 6 followers found not guilty of conspiracy in Malheur Oregon Wildlife Refuge takeover

I guess it’s like how one’s own farts don’t smell as bad as the imaginary farts of others smell.

Yeah, I definitely agree with that point. I just think we can recognize that the justice system is racist in when it shows restraint without saying that we want it to be less restrained.

Nah, I read enough of you that I know we’re generally on the same page. But a lot of the discourse here could easily be interpreted that way, and based on some of the comments, I get the feeling that some people are. So we should be careful about how we express ourselves, to avoid inadvertently legitimizing and reinforcing systems which are hostile towards marginalized people (and really almost everyone).

This is a very big question, and there’s lots to say about it. I’ve gone on quite a lot about it in other threads, but I’m just too busy with IRL organizing to delve right now. Suffice it to say that regardless of the details regarding alternatives, we should be clear that this system is not our friend, does not serve us, and we have no interest in it continuing. When we see injustice, rather than looking to the “Justice Department” to fix it, we should be looking to our communities and each other. This is the only way deep, lasting, meaningful social change takes root.

I meant to say earlier that I prefer dialogue with you, because I can tell we’re actually listening to each other even when we have different perspectives.

Like, maybe, terrorism or something.

I’m sure they’d have been treated as gently as this guy reaching for a gun after being told to keep his hand away from it. On his way to this event btw.

Yeah, right. Like I’m gonna come to work when there are a dozen armed idiots occupying the place. Besides they used up all the TP.

Big deal. They’ve been acquited on ONE charge out of how many? They still have to face trial for trespassing, destruction of public property, etc. And this is only Federal charges. They can still be charged and tried by the state on a variety of things.

Yeah but Ammon Bundy 2 was pretty good.

So uh, what charges still stand and what State charges are being brought? Bundy is still wanted for charges elsewhere but I’m unsure what charges are left to face for this act and for the rest of his clowns.

quote the term “domestic terrorism” means activities that—
(A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State;
(B) appear to be intended—
(i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
(ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or
(iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and
© occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States.[/quote]

This is a “make it go away” decision, imo.

It won’t go away. We must find consensus. I don’t think a rancher should get to make money off of my public land for free. I make no money off of that land, why should you? Care to share your profits? Obviously not.

Be careful about claiming sovereignty over land you inherited from your white landowners, asshats.

You weren’t first.

He sounds like he could do with some serious help.

You should reach out to him.

There seem to be a lot like him. Maybe it needs a Federal Program? Preferable within the next week or so.

Quel Malheur, la justice des Ètas-Unis (pardon my French).

I believe you saw him entering a federal program in the video.

I suppose he will get a chance to meet all those poor, non-white people demonized by his media and form his own opinion of them from first hand experience.
