I am saddened to see this turning into a race issue by default. What American’s should be saying is “small local groups have exercised their rights and fought for what they believe was right, and thus far have been successful in telling the feds to back off.” This is a GOOD day. Not a day to sit at home on our computers and write lame unsubstantiated comments about white men.
Right now in North Dakota native americans are fighting a pipeline. There is a similarity in the Wildlife Refuge to the Pipeline Protests - about big government overstepping boundaries on small disenfranchised groups. We all need to be standing up and helping all of us when the government goes to far. Stop turning these into issues about race, that only causes us to fight each other. We need to act together regardless of petty race comments and work to tell the US government we’ve had enough of their bullshit.

I will when they stop and white folks stop killing black Americans or brown ones and getting away with it.

They can, but I highly doubt they will. The chances of the Oregon District Attorney choosing to go down that extremely expensive, difficult, and political path (especially after having seen the results of the Feds trial) is… about as likely as PaPa Bundy paying his grazing fees. All of that being said, I sincerely hope you are right.

I’m curious how they were “disenfranchised”. They don’t recognize the Federal government at all and claim rebellion against it is “ordained by god”. Nothing has been taken from them. They are just following in the fine tradition of other militant fringe religious zealots, and will probably end up the same way.
I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro. When I go to
Las Vegas, north Las Vegas, and I would see these little Government
houses, and in front of that Government house the door was usually open,
and the older people and the kids and there was always at least half a
dozen people on the porch. They didn’t have nothing to do, they didn’t
have nothing for the kids to do, they didn’t have nothing for the young
girls to do. They were basically on government subsidy, so now what do
they do? They abort their young children, they put their young men in
jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often
wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a
family life and doing things, or are they better off under government
subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.

do white people kill black people? yes. do whites kill whites? yes. do blacks kill blacks? yes. have people been killing people since the advent of time before there even were white people? yes. is there a historical race issue in america and a problem with militarization of police? yes. should police be trained to act non lethally and use de-escalation techniques? yes. should we decriminalize drug use, de-stigmatize mental health, and end privatization of prisons? yes.
but should we turn every single thing that happens into an issue about race? NO. that will be counterproductive and is not a fight you can win, because it’s not a fight to begin with. it’s like throwing punches at the wind. if you honestly think turning every issue into something about race is the answer, then good luck to you. in the mean time I plan on staying focused and not assigning blame on everything that happens in the world on whatever my favorite issue of the day is.
disenfranchise can mean “to deprive (someone) of a right”. whether or not you or I personally agree with what Bundy did you cannot redefine words. also to say that this will lead to other events is a classic logical fallacy called the “slippery slope”. that’s not how logic works. if you find that there is a militant religious zealot group that is able to somehow use the Bundy case to their benefit PLEASE write me as soon as it happens. I’m not confusing anything. Wha? I was relating similarities. NPR discussed this yesterday. Both events have similar underpinnings. This has also been in the NYTimes, ABC news, thinkprogress… Both cases involve land occupation. Bundy et al were acquitted, while things aren’t going as well for the native peoples. We need to use Bundy as an example for others. Not dwell that this is without a doubt 100% white privilege and there’s nothing we can do about it.
what are you talking about? of course i’m familiar with the BLM. i’ve been to a march. i’m also fairly aware of the police situation. how the f do those issues even enter this discussion. you are proving my point. everytime something happens we don’t have to run around going “ACK RACISM! ACK WHITE PEOPLE! OMG THE POLICE ARE KILLING EVERYONE! OH NOES!” it’s so bad that we can’t focus on the positive aspects of Bundy’s case anymore. There’s a huge problem right now with an every growing big brother America. It’s affecting all of us, even the devil white man. Here we have a case where a few people stood up for what they thought was right and they seem to have won. Let’s use this as an example to positive good and not run around with our heads down dwelling on white vs black vs whatever.
They’ve had no rights taken away. They just want to profit off land that belongs to all of us and use god as an excuse.
