Ohhhh. . . this could be the new logo of the park rangers.
An elephant killed a rhino poacher and then lions ate him
Somewhere they are saying, “How come he don’t call no-more”…
He might get some sympathy from me when there are 5000 humans left. Otherwise, nada.
200 people have been killed by Elephants in the last 7 years…in Kenya alone.
What have we learned?
So it goes.
leaving only a human skull and a pair of pants
Did they charge the skull and pants separately, or…?
I struggle with feelings of sympathy, especially in the context of citizens of rich developed nations who massively despoil the environment (including in Africa) and reap huge rewards, not punishments (and certainly don’t risk death). But this is done because it’s incredibly lucrative for the poachers. The poachers even murder park rangers to get horns. If people had more economic opportunities they might not do it, but it’s not the act of desperation of someone trying to make just enough money to feed their family.
Thinking about it, this is just motivating me to import lions to let loose on oil and mining executives in the US and Europe…
While it’s not much money compared to Western salaries, nor even much compared to the final sales value of the horn, relative to local wages, yeah, the poacher is “getting rich” - poachers apparently get paid about 50 times the local monthly wage for a single horn. And often there’s a mass slaughter of animals.
As Noob-Noob would say: God damn.
You’re supposed to walk the elephant and pitch to the rhino.
Even shaking down people for the local warlords is a far more honorable profession
I saw a pair of pale green pants
With nobody inside them!
I wasn’t scared. But, yet, I stopped
What could those pants be there for?
Don’t sweat it, Bryan Fuller is probably already in discussions to remake “The Public Eye” into a Netflix series. If he isn’t now, then he will be eventually, because there is a finite number of “true crime” stories in the known universe.
