An ode to Tom Baker

Baby Bingo GIF

As one scholarship kid to another…yup. Being female was just an excuse. After all, most parents of middle school male nerds would have been thrilled their son was socializing with an actual girl.

Thank you, baby. I’m sure my being poor was a big influence.
“Her mother actually works for a living, and she’s divorced!”
“Can you even imagine?!”

I’m sure they wanted their sons to marry (women), and have kids, and you kinda do hafta be able to talk to them before you can marry them. I never saw them chatting with girls other than me. :frowning:
I honestly hope all of them found wonderful partners, like Jim has done, and eventually told off their snooty parents.

The scene with a naked and surprisingly hot-fit Julian Sands drugged out and yelling on a Gothic roof is permanently embedded in this gay man’s mind…

A truly delightful show! Funny funny funny and with surprisingly moving moments. It’s a top fave of mine.

Pertwee was brought over first (1971-2) but it wasn’t widespread or lasted too long. A few years later Tom Baker was brought over originally for syndicated US TV but the editing for commercials and semi serialized format wasn’t successful (1976-77). Then it got repackaged again for PBS in both single episode and full story formats, where it became a staple (1978ish)

The look on Matt Smith’s face when he turned to see who was speaking says VOLUMES about his acting abilities.
