Apparently this isn’t uncommon - cheetahs stress out on their own in captivity, but dogs provide good companionship for them, so other zoos have similar… feline-canine match-making, if you will.

Cheetahs are adorable balls of speed and neurosis, and the most dog-like of all big cats. That puppy friend helps the cheetah feels secure, because if the dog’s not freaking out, things must not be bad.
