Anonymous Trump official: Don't worry, America, us unelected nameless GOP hacks have quietly executed a coup

I’m going with David Duke…

I predict that Trump tries to purge both Sessions and Mattis (and maybe others) as a reaction to this and the Woodward book. Possibly as early as the morning. And that precipitates an attempt by some members of his own party to remove him.

People are here saying that this is bad strategy for the Republican party, and that’s true. But we’re not dealing with rational actors here. Or we are dealing with rational actors, but we’re failing to understand the depth of their cynicism.

The number of Republicans trying to primary Acting President Pence in 2020 would be interesting. (Assuming a #25. Would he count as 46 or 45.5?)

Actually, I could go for one of those.

On her program tonight, Rachel Maddow devoted about 40 minutes to a monologue discussing the NYT op-ed and parsing the possible implications. It was a masterful analysis and well worth watching.

After having duped enough of a country to elect the biggest doofus that mainstream politics has seen in decades, nobody seems perturbed about the idea of an unelected, mysterious shadow government running things in the background?

It’s as if the so-called “deep state” the right loves to talk about is Trump’s own cabinet.

It’s a bit concerning that this person thinks they can avoid a constitutional crisis by avoiding the constitutional process of 25th amendment removal by instead having the administration ignore the president in flagrant violation of the Constitution.

But only a bit compared to everything else.

Sorry, but I don’t think Ron Popeil has yet developed the technology to keep human heads alive in jars.

This is a brilliant bit of disinformation.

Exactly.
The person who wrote this can fuck off.
From the article:

“The root of the problem is the president’s amorality. Anyone who works with him knows he is not moored to any discernible first principles that guide his decision making.”

No kidding? Wow, who would have guessed that prior to his inauguration.

There was a word for members of the Nazi administration who tried to compensate for their chief executive’s erratic incompetence.

They were called “Nazis”.
