As another has said, sounds like he croaked …
Why do all of Putin’s oligarch toadies keep dying?
The oligarch had so much patriotism that it choked him, no doubt.
… asks Putin, chuckling to himself.
Hey, @Improbus
Don’t post immediately below @Papasan
Look what happened!
Oh, the humanity!
So, Russian oligarchs have personal shamans who perform Jamaican voodoo rituals? Who knew?
You’d think they’d have better things to do with their money … oh, wait. No, as you were.
Probably for lack of sufficient and sufficiently loyal toadying.
I’m still trying to decide if this is an unlikely cover story for his having been bumped off, or it’s a likely story because of batshit Russian oligarchs…
It sounds like the trade sanctions have already crippled Russia’s polonium stockpiles.
Probably both. If I was a murderous former secret police official who became the new Tsar of Russia I’d keep all manner of shady parasites and charlatans who sponge off my pet oligrachs on retainer.
Fact: One of Groucho’s cigars did the deed.
I’m halfway through Bill Browder’s “Red Notice”. It is a decent read for those interested in how oligarchs got to be oligarchs. I’ve just been introduced to Magnitsky. Don’t tell me how it ends. (I know how it ends )
Okay, but be honest. Hangover’s gone, right?
It’s about as likely a story as the one cobbled together by the incompetent idiots who traveled to Salisbury to assassinate the Skripols, completely ignorant of all the CCTV cameras they showed up on from the time they landed at Heathrow.
I’m not sure how much of that is incompetence and how much is a “We’re aware that everyone knows we did it, but by still denying it, and in the most absurd way possible, we’re demonstrating that we’re untouchable and can do it again” power move. (The same sort of thing that Trump and his mini-mes do all the time.)
It’s like all the people “falling” out of windows, or getting poisoned with nerve agents (and Russia saying they did it to themselves) or someone being poisoned with polonium - that’s a big, flashy way of indicating that the Russian state was responsible (as only a state has the resources and money to collect the polonium and spend millions of dollars on poison to kill one person).
