AOC has had it with Fox's super creepy frozen food heir

Well, if you look up the literal meaning of pendejo…

And people often ask me why I’m suicidal. This shit. This is why.

That just might be because you aren’t a woman?
It’s creepy AF, and messed up, and you should count yourself very lucky that you’ve lived this long without having to know that in a very visceral way.

Please, please, let it be the post-TFG era. I could NOT stomach another term for him.

That was my implication. When we were kids we called them that when parents weren’t around.

Unfortunately I mean “post-Trump” only in the sense that we’re now living in the aftermath of what he has wrought and dealing with all his mini-mes, not that we’re done with him and his ilk. Because sadly I’m pretty sure we’re not - even if Trump dies/goes to jail/decides conning his followers out of political donations he never uses for political purposes is more important than being president again, we still have a whole party full of his imitators to deal with for years to come.

I came to say the exact same thing.

To agree with you - his actions have changed the game completely.

Before the English Civil War, European monarchy appeared to believe the divine right BS, and Charles I expected apocalyptic repercussions when his head was lopped off.

When that didn’t happen, sensible monarchs recognised that they couldn’t rule by religious mandate alone, and revolutionaries sharpened their guillotines.

For a start, Trump has demonstrated that a sitting President is unimpeachable as long as he has 34 senators willing to vote on party lines. (Have I got this one right - 2/3 supermajority in the Senate needs to vote to impeach, so a future Bad Actor would just need to get 1/3 or 34 senators?)

When the most-watched personality on cable “news” insinuates that a female lawmaker with a heavy social media presence sharing her current status of being “alone and exhausted,” is really a plea for sex, that is creepy AF.
When that lawmaker has already been the target of ongoing misogyny, as well as specific rape and death threats, it’s downright dangerous.

Plus 5 in the Senate-Plus (that is, the Supreme Court), to alleviate any possible legal challenges. (The current SCOTUS is not court, its an assembly. They don’t rule on cases by law. They vote, by party affiliation.)

She’s Latina, born in the US of Puerto Rican descent. I’m not sure of the technicalities, but I think she would be considered a “first generation US citizen.” (??)

What’s particularly troubling is when some of her critics on the Right invent phrases like “socially white” to dismiss her ethnicity and life experience. It’s nonsense, of course. “Socially white” is not a thing. But they have found it politically and rhetorically useful to pretend she’s somehow “privileged” and “socially detached” from her district.

It’s yet another example of the arbitrary and intellectually dishonest nature of all right-wing arguments. AOC is simultaneously “just a bartender” who couldn’t possibly understand complex socio-economic issues (despite having degrees in international relations and economics)… AND a “privileged white lady” who is out of touch with her constituents.

This ridiculous rhetoric changes with the wind and can be dismissed with equal prejudice.

It’s worth mentioning that those same critics also have some … interesting … views on the “whiteness” of Jewish Americans. Skin colour is where these Nativist scumbags start but it’s far from where they end (as those who know the history of Irish- and Italian-Americans are aware).

NO!!!

Puerto Ricans are US citizens. They carry US passports, for example.

Correct. Yes. Perhaps a poor word choice in “citizen” on my part. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Regardless, the distinction is important because it gives assholes like Tucker Carlson license to exploit or dismiss her “otherness” as they find rhetorically convenient.
