my answer to that would be “hope that means you are jumping off a building!”
Why couldn’t the Australian PM be more - well - Australian?
One thing about our cousins down under - they’re never short of ways to insult people to their face. The whole Commonwealth would stand with Australia if its PM decided to tear Trump a new one.
Sadly, for 60 days he can pretty much order them around as he pleases. The much-discussed War Powers Resolution rears it’s wacky head.
His first attempt at ordering them around as he pleases didn’t work out so well.
Certainly unlikely, but that doesn’t mean AU won’t delay or deny the US in some other capacity. Plenty of stuff available to make their annoyed point (if such exists).
Imagine an entire day of every singing group (in any style) plus individuals who feel so moved singing that song while grinning from ear to ear.
True and as others mentioned above I think we can expect to see more of that sort of thing as long as that godamn AUMF exists:
Honestly, considering how bad it is in some parts of Mexico, I’d be like - fuck it. You know what, it’s all legal. Let me come over and see your pet tigers and let us tax you on your production, and we will leave you alone. How you get it into the US or Europe isn’t any of my concern.
Then start sipping tea.
Trudeau is slightly Trumpish in some ways, though he lacks the cold, calculating, evil side – or hides it very well.
To me, JT is little more than a minor celebrity who rose to where he is largely because he’s his father’s son, but he doesn’t have anywhere near the intelligence or gravitas of his dad (no matter what you thought of him – let’s not forget that to many Canadians, PET was a bad, bad man, but I think even his mortal enemies must recognize his brilliance).
He’s a political flip-flopper whose legend is growing daily. Ask any indigenous person. Or anyone who believed his electoral reform promise. He’s often out of his depth. He does plain stupid things, like spending New Year’s of Canada’s 150th on a private island in the sun as the Aga Khan’s guest.
On many policy matters, he’s lot like a Stephen Harper with a lower IQ, functioning smile muscles and a bit of charisma. That’s also a bit Trumplike, no? (Even if JT’s or Trump’s brand of charisma makes your skin crawl, it still exists.)
In short, I think JT will keep on bending to whichever way the wind blows. He must, or should, be a big disappointment to many of his voters. Then again, his flaws also make him a prototypical Canadian politician – a classic case of running from the left and governing from the right – so maybe a lot of voters more or less expected what he’s delivering.
When it comes to refugee policy, I think he’s a disappointment to us all. He has a chance to make Trump happy and many ordinary Canadians happy by taking action to back his famous tweet about sheltering those in need. Why wouldn’t Trump love that? America doesn’t want these folks, no worries here’s Canada taking them and a lot of political heat along with them. But he won’t, at least not to any meaningful extent.
At a minimum, him threatening to intervene is business as usual for United States foreign policy in Central and South America.
Oh well that’s OK then. Wait… No it’s not. You already have law enforcement officials doing that over here. Legally.
Maybe we don’t want him to send your military into our country even if it is to help capture criminals and bring them to court for a fair trial.

Just because it’s BAU doesn’t make it right.
I remain optimistic enough to think its hyperbole and is his way of saying “get your shit together on this, we’re officially concerned, and are available to help”.
Oh please. Your optimism is unfounded.
Most of this and similar legislation since 2001 assumed two things:
There IS a “bad actor” at the helm and suddenly a lot of these powers appear very scary. It’s too late now.
Things like NDAA (indefinite detention) and extrajudicial killings (see your example) appeared unproblematic to the wider audience because Obama used them sparingly and against “bad guys”. Now you have a president who sees “bad guys” behind every corner, even behind domestic corners …
There is a popular idiom in german politics “Wehret den Anfängen!” a proper translation is probably “Nip it in the bud!”. The USA has no experience regarding fascism. You have to pay the price now for your lack of vigilance.
I wonder what he would do if he found out there were a bunch of “bad hombres” in say for example, Denver…
Lie Detector: I love the uneducated. True
Proof, his voters and his cabinet.
The problem at the moment is: Who do we replace him with?
The Conservatives are openly running at least two Trump-Lites (Leitch and O’Leary) in their 14 candidates.
The NDP leadership seems to be a job nobody wants.
The Liberals aren’t going to replace a leader who won by a landslide last time 'round.
So who do we replace Trudeau with? Duceppe? May?
I think, all in all, that it would probably be better if we (BC) just took over Washington, Oregon and California. For their own safety you understand. Maybe we could even arrange to send some of excess rainfall southwards.
I’m curious, do you think the cartel problem is under control? Do you think there’s a chance that it’s likely to be fixed using the methods that have been used to date?
Hmm, my lab can do that testing, but we will need the entire sample to be sure we check it carefully enough.
I guess “failure of the basic mission”, “deaths of several innocent Americans standing nearby” and “losing a few Navy SEALs” is his idea of a successful operation? Does Spicer believe that the death of an 8 year old American girl was part of their success?
