…again…?
The 14 is neo-nazi’s tiny dicked persecution complex wet dream that whites are under some sort of systematic attack…
not going to post that shit myself, but you can read about it here:
Gab is the far right Twitter substitute that has hosted hate speech and promotion of violence. This isn’t the first incident. Far right hate is their brand.
It’s offices are in Center City Philadelphia. I suggested that they deserved to be shown that Philadelphia doesn’t need this type of business when they moved here earlier this year.
Especially after the election if there is a blue wave that at least takes the House. Gollum having his entitled Precious yanked away will be nothing to their incoherent rage looking for an outlet, especially if Trump doubles down on discrediting the election process and results. (Because you know he will.)
Choosing to lend your platform to hatemongers can have consequences.
Oh, if there only was a way to know where all these ‘very fine people’ are suddenly coming from.
You are not alone in this.
My girlfriend lives in Point Breeze, right next to squirrel hill. I myself regularly am in squirrel hill, for food and general awesomeness. Its a wonderful neighborhood where until now, people from every religion and country mixed in peace.
You would see chinese grad students from Carnegie Mellon U. grabbing noodles or thai next to orthodox Jewish families with little ones, artists grabbing coffee, former expats of many countries like me grabbing endless variety of ethnic foods as reminders of where they once lived.
Asian supermarkets, bespoke import tea stores, libraries, noodle shops, dive bars, synagogues, churches, record stores, antiques, pizza shops, thai, chinese, italian, french pattiseires, everything good about humanity, the world, and kindness everywhere. No violence, some homelessness, but peace. Everyone enjoyed all the others in harmony around. Parks all around. Cemetarys joined with hiking trails. Its a small paradise.
I lived in Squirrel Hill in college for a time, its becone even more wonderful since.
Ive lived around the country and the world, and never seen a more multicultural and peaceful city than my Pittsburgh at the local level. Squirrel Hill is kind of an epicenter for that feel.
Thats why this hurts me so much.
Im not jewish, but my mom taught in a private jewish school just outside the city. We have friends and family that live nearby. Apparently my moms friend lives on the block of Tree Of Life, almost next door. She heard the man screaming at them as she fled to her basement.
I had a date to see Halloween at the Manor Theater that evening in Squirrel Hill. Needless to say we skipped that. I love horror movies but not when real horror is right in front of me.
This evil has wormed its way into my country, into my city, into my old neighborhood. Where is my spear and sheild against this tyranny of hate and intolerance? How do you fight this? Turn the other cheek doesn’t work.
I will fight these bastards. Violence isn’t the answer but what is the solution?
Another awesome aspect of Squirrel Hill that makes what happened there even more sad:
Congratulations, arsehole, you just committed a racist massacre in Mr. Rogers’ Neighbourhood.
Look for the helpers. Defy bigots by sharing public spaces with their targets. Acknowledge that terrible things happen and respond by listening with kindness and compassion.
These are all parts of the solution, taught by that late resident of Squirrel Hill and now being put into action by his family’s real-life neighbours.
11 good souls rubbed out in the name of tRump / Nazis / Hate / Racism / Bigotry.
Please, please vote.
Thanks also to my generation for not voting. Man, if only they could Pokémon Go To the Polls.
I play video games, have a wife and 2 children, and have voted in every local and federal election since I was 18. I’m 34.
When have they ever been punished in this country???
According to the Brookings Institute, 50% of my generation didn’t vote in 2016:
