There are lots of folks whose lives kinda stopped after high school. That was their peak of popularity, importance, respect, whatever. Would not be at all surprised if that was the case for a significant number of these folks.
I was immediately reminded of the tuba player driving trollies the KKK March but maybe that’s not the message we want to be sending about our chances for success.
Right? By this logic, I should go raid Susan Collin’s closet. She’s been in office long enough that all her clothes were probably bought on the taxpayers’ dime, after all.
And they seem (typically) to be the ones who were in the “in” group or the “popular” group. They’d figured out how to navigate that microcosm, maybe with the help of parents. Then when they’re on their own, seems like they can’t figure out how to take risks and/or put themselves out there in ways that you need to to form an independent and meaningful life. It’s sad to see 25 year olds already thinking their best years are behind them. But it still doesn’t mean they get to ruin democracy.
1 horn for white threats
2 horns for brown threats
That’s a real theme in US TV shows. My kids ask me is it true of secondary school and I have to say “not at all”. Maybe the nature of sport is a bit different in the US? Cheerleaders and football. We don’t have cheerleaders and most people who played a bit of ball keep on playing in their adult lives. Bit of five aside or even just the annual Stephen’s Day giant match when everyone was home for Christmas. Oh and those jackets. Watching Glee with my daughter and the constant wearing of cheerleader outfits and sports jackets is nuts. Though maybe we’d been primed by the haunted ones in Buffy.
Maybe that’s what happened to them?
Cover up as much as you want asshole but the inter webs never forget.
To be fair, Dennis was working on the collective’s farm when some random guy turns up and declares he is their king. How would you react in the same situation?
And after high school it continues with college and university colors and logos. People in their sixties wearing their university regalia and singing the fight song.
Hard to picture myself in my seventies wearing a hoodie that says “RTC Galway”
Journalism, how the fuck does it work?
Look at the pictures! You just wrote 1000 words about five upper-middle-class nutbags having a tantrum. And you think people should give you money?
plea deal in Gretchen Whitmer Case,.
n. Throughout the day on September 12, 2020, the defendant and the other conspirators discussed their plans to kidnap the Governor. In the afternoon, Fox told the defendant, Harris, Franks, Caserta and others that he wanted to take the Governor out into the middle of lake Michigan on a boat, remove the engine, and leave her there to be rescued as a “statement.”
If your local force still uses Ford Crown Vics, they all use the same key. Said key is readily available on Amazon and eBay: https://www.amazon.com/1284X-Mechanical-Ford-Fleet-Key/dp/B07L82NP1G
Help yourself!
(Don’t believe me? Go look into the Ford 1284x key)
A timeline of events. I’ve just started watching it, and I’m not familiar with Mehdi Hasan or Peacock.
don’t forget the marching band
Peacock is NBC, the oldest of the American TV networks, so relatively mainstream and/or legit
Haha - this is true. Most of them are keyed the same.
Also, many of them use a locking device to hold a shot gun or rifle in the center console. That lock can often times be defeated with a strong magnet. Depends on the model, but there are thousands of them out there.
There are a lot of “security” devices that use the same key, or one from a small set of keys. Like call lock boxes and elevators.
That hat tho
“Our office is inundated with callers saying, ‘It was antifa’ and ‘You all had it coming,’” an aide to a House Democrat told Roll Call. “These are 20-somethings sitting alone in their apartment fielding these calls. … Obviously, really abhorrent and demoralizing stuff for staff who have already been through a lot.”
Where Things Stand: Hill Staffers And Members Linger In Fear Together
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) just made a stunning and pointed remark about the very real fears that House members are facing regarding security of the Capitol in the aftermath of the insurrection: “the enemy is within the House of Representatives.”

Threats against House members have lingered beyond the insurrection, and Democrats’ fears of their colleagues are fresher than frustration with those GOPers whose rigged election claims helped spur the attack.
The speaker continued, pointing to certain Republican House members who have mused about acts of violence against her and other Democrats (Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia) and attempted to bring weapons on the House floor (Rep. Andy Harris of Maryland).
As you might have read, House members are calling on leadership to provide them with more security at their homes and district offices in the aftermath of the pro-Trump mob’s violent insurrection at the Capitol. Lawmakers’ fears span from the mob on the outside to their colleagues on the inside — and the fear is bipartisan for some Republicans, including, presumably, former Vice President Mike Pence, who was deemed a traitor to Trump and his election-overturning agenda.
Capitol Hill staffers are also caught in the mix. According to a new report in Roll Call, it’s essentially become part of many staffers’ jobs to field calls threatening more violence against their bosses.
Staffers are being offered therapy sessions to recover from the very real trauma of fleeing and hiding from a violent mob, Roll Call reported. But while they attempt to recover emotionally in the aftermath of the attack, the harassment and threats of violence continue.
Calls for the expulsion of Greene and Pelosi’s public acknowledgement of the fear from within might change the dynamic a bit for Republican leadership. But Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has proven time and again that it’s futile to hang any hope on a flimsy spine.
