(CNN)Federal investigators are examining records of communications between members of Congress and the pro-Trump mob that attacked the US Capitol, as the investigation moves closer to exploring whether lawmakers wittingly or unwittingly helped the insurrectionists, according to a US official briefed on the matter.
The data gathered so far includes indications of contact with lawmakers in the days around January 6, as well as communications between alleged rioters discussing their associations with members of Congress, the official said.
Two sides to a contact, and they have the insurrectionists’ devices…

Yeah, he yelled at the judge about how it’s not fair that he is still in jail while other have been released. The judge said he would consider a release request if his lawyer files one. I bet that was just so the judge can slam him with contempt of court charges at his response to hearing the judge say “I considered this request. I’m declining it.”

I have wondered about this at length myself. Same for Republican women, people of color, and all LGBT, all of whom do exist, against all reason.
My only hypothesis is that some people are in so much pain that they want to see the world burn more than they want autonomy over their own lives.

Me, too. A colleague of mine has a female doctor friend who’s a T supporter. I asked my colleague how that could even be and he said, “women can be misogynistic too. Even well-educated ones.”

For sure. I suspect a lot of these women are also in denial about what white GOP men really want. Like the women have vague ideas of “yay business” and “low taxes” for Republicanism and “socialism bad” for Democrats and don’t think a lot about it beyond that. They may not believe or appreciate that The Handmaid’s Tale is the vision of the party.

Just like with some men, some women don’t care one whit for other women or women as a whole. They only care about themselves. So if they are in a situation where reproductive rights don’t matter to them or they are privileged enough that they think it doesn’t apply, then they not only don’t care to protect those rights, they see removal of those rights from others as another means to win the Zero Sum Game ™ of life.

I’m playing this game with myself lately of, what would their “punishment” look like if we took their whiny complaints at their face value? So for this guy:
said he is “deeply remoursefull [sic] and regretful. After all, that’s what jail’s for, right? Teaching people a lesson?”
Okay. That would be great if that was the way prison was used in the US. Your community service (after serving your time, or concurrently) is to productively work for prison reform and move toward restorative justice.
Or the asshat complaining about how he can’t sleep should have to work for improved living conditions for imprisoned people.
The guy complaining that it “isn’t fair” that he’s still detained can help out the innocence project.
Otherwise (and probably even with this approach) I worry that any of these guys who end up serving any real time are going to get even more radicalized. I’m not for letting them off the hook, but just locking them up isn’t enough, either…
