Attempted Coup in the United States: Tracking Investigations and Fallout

That is a threat. Like a mob boss style threat, “You’ll be sorry.”

Really, he’s going to incite more heinous shit anyways even if he is not impeached. If anything, this tells me we should hurry up.

I’m with @Ratel on this - I don’t think it’s at all a matter of Issa or the others “not understanding.” I think it’s a continuation of this “governing by reality TV spectacle” we’ve been subjected to for at least the past 12 years, most farcically the last 4 or 5, but going on much longer at some level. Issa isn’t stupid, he’s evil because (among other reasons) he knows what he’s touting is completely false and unjust, but he will stand behind it for the sake of power.

At the very least, I bet it’s making some repub operatives shake in their loafers. I hope.

“Selfish Idiocy:” Infected lawmaker blasts Republicans for bunkering maskless [Updated] | Ars Technica

During the attack, Jayapal is believed to have been in the now-infamous secured room where scores of lawmakers and their staff huddled for safety. Video from the room—where some lawmakers sheltered for hours—showed multiple Republican lawmakers and staff sitting maskless amid the crowd and refusing to put on masks offered by Democractic colleague Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester (Del.).

The maskless Republicans included Reps. Andy Biggs (Ariz.), Michael Cloud (Texas), Markwayne Mullin (Okla.), and Scott Perry (Pa.). According to other reports, Reps. Mo Brooks (Ala.), Matt Gaetz (Fla.), Paul Gosar (Ariz.), Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.), and Doug LaMalfa (Calif.) were also not wearing masks for extended periods of time.

On Sunday, the attending physician to Congress, Brian Monahan, sent an alert to lawmakers warning them that they may have been exposed to the pandemic coronavirus while huddled in the room.

Idiots. Plain and simple, evil, small-minded idiots.

Don’t give them a cop-out. They are monsters.

Unfortunately, there are far too many “liberals” willing to nod along.

I wish it could’ve been, “Okay, you either put the mask on or we boot you out the door without a security detail.”
But then I guess they could’ve lead the rioters to the secure location, so maybe not.

I think much less than there used to be. This has had a galvanizing effect on at least some. Gives me a chance to post one of my several battle anthems from my old college days!

Then he isn’t present enough in reality to understand that such a stance caused them to lose power, and doubling down is just going to keep their losses piling up.

I mean, that’s fine. I wish they’d all grow little mustaches and give each other the Nazi salute, but we can just go with their refusal to disavow Trumpism as their badge of membership.

I wish I felt as confident as you seem to that this is any kind of certainty yet.

Ditto. What are we even supposed to “come together” on when they openly reject the most basic principles of our Democratic Republic?

Presumably, the “fact” that they’re always right, Democrats are always wrong, and Joe Biden can’t have won the election so we need to just accept that Trump gets a second term Because.

Maybe more. If the House rules were that everyone wears a mask, and they were complying with that, but specifically refused to wear masks in that situation, then they knew that if the Trump gangs found them, they’d be slaughtered with the Democratic members. (A nasty way to gain House majority.)

They are referring to this article:

This numerical discrepancy results chiefly from two factors: a president must take the oath at the beginning of each term of office, and, because the day of inauguration has sometimes fallen on a Sunday, five presidents have taken the oath privately before the public inaugural ceremonies. In addition, three have repeated the oath as a precaution against potential later constitutional challenges

You know what? I wouldn’t put it past Trump to just go ahead and have a private ceremony with as many people as he could convince to go along with it.

I wouldn’t put it past Trump for it to be a regularly recurring roleplay for his remaining days. That is, if he can afford the prostitutes once his loans come due.

also from that article

The affidavit for Munchel reveals that the 30-year-old stormed the Capitol building with his mom after stopping for coffee. Later that day, he encountered a law enforcement officer at his hotel in D.C. and provided his name.

At the time, Munchel was wearing camouflage pants [and] wearing a black holster that appeared to be a handgun,” the affidavit states. “Law enforcement interviewed Munchel and identified that he was carrying a black and yellow ‘taser pulse’ taser that emits an electrical shock. Munchel stated he possessed the taser for self-protection as he had participated at the pro-Trump rally.

Wait! What?
