This has been the biggest problem for Americans with this presidency: While the “liberal media” is piling outrage upon outrage over TrumpTweets ™, the Republicans are staking the courts, undermining any legislation that helps people and lining the lining of their pocket linings.

It’s a symptom of the disease, just like what is happening with the courts. All of it needs to be treated or the patient (freedom and democracy in the US) dies.

The reason you allow an army to retreat home is because if you block them they WILL fight to the death. The right’s appetite for war may die down quite a bit when those MAGA hats come back in body bags, while our appetite for war will die down only when we know we are safe from slavery, torture and extermination.
Of course you could just back down and not allow the idiotic bloodbath to happen. I think most sane people would prefer that.
Let’s say, that magically, Trump apologies to those he accosted, even pays restitution out of his own funds, rather than taxpayer money. How does that help people who are deported and die back in their countries of origin? How does that help people who die in the cold because funds have been redirected from social services? How does that help kids who can’t compete in the workforce because their schools don’t have enough money to educate them?
Humans can only pay attention to a couple of things at a time. If the news cycle if full of #metoo, then the predations of the kleptocrats get ignored and they can keep working in secret.

No one is doing that. Yes, we can actually care about women’s rights and the rights of individuals. It’s not one or the other. Stop pretending like it’s not a problem that women have been assaulted and ignored for all of human history.
Funny, because I (and most people round here) are perfectly capable of being concerned about assault issues, right-wing destruction of social safety, foreign affairs (including such things as the Rohyinga genocide), the plight of refugees, racism, sexism and a whole lot of other things, simultaneously.
