And now, George W. Bush! I just can’t reconcile all the feelings…
Yes, On subjects like Trump I agree with some of the worst people.
I don’t agree with them on many other things but we do face the fact Trump is a dangerous fucking idiot.
…although you’ll often hear “developmentally delayed” used in education related fields.
It’s a recognition of the fact that many folks with cognitive disabilities are perfectly capable of complex learning, it’s just that it’s more difficult and takes longer.
I caught myself thinking “wow, Bush is actually quite articulate” for a moment.
If W scans as well spoken, that says something about the last nine months.
Yeah.
Folks here are being appropriately restrained, but much of centrist Twitter was not. There has been a wave of gushing praise for Shrub from establishment Democrats.
That provoked a predictable response from the left. This is a relatively mild example:

This is a less mild example (spoilered for war casualty imagery):
That’s the level of Il Douche’s awfulness: he can make Prince Bush, the Ayatollah, and Korean Bob’s Big Boy briefly appear to be reasonable and thoughtful leaders in contrast.
That said, none of these creeps should ever be seen as even temporary allies of liberalism and progressivism.
I sure don’t see them as allies… just you know what I said above.
Definitely time for: “my enemy’s enemy is the enemy of my enemy, no more, no less.”
Wow. That was refreshing and weird. Granted he had his faults, but he is sterling compared to Trump, and his clear condemnation is what we SHOULD be hearing.
Eh. Trump has already done shitty things and there is a very great likelihood of a lot more on a larger scale, but right now, I’m fairly certain that Shrub has more innocent blood on his hands.
Thread:
43 might not be the sharpest spoon in the drawer, but he does represent the remains of the mainstream Republicans, which Trump and Friends are hoping to Primary to death next year.
He might want the biggest slice and control of the pie, but he still wants a pie. Bannon wants to set the pie on fire.
Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. (Sorry for the triteness.)
I’d say someone else wrote the speech – but that doesn’t matter to me. I don’t think he would have said what he said without believing in every word and without genuinely feeling troubled by Trump.
He’s at least smart enough to know to read a speech by a professional vs just winging it.
Not to be argumentative, but if that means “staying on script” counts for something, then I think Trump (who I believe you were referencing) falls flat on his face there also: His rare straight speeches truly sucked; sophomoric pap for the dullard class.
… and G.W. Bush. And, for quite a while now, with Angela Merkel.
When this happened - I agreed with the CDU chancellor - I knew the world must have changed in a way I couldn’t comprehend. Now, Bush.
I can’t say I don’t doubt myself every day if I accidentally became a conservative. But it seems I haven’t: the conservatives aren’t what they used to be any more.
And, come to think, even the Aythollah and the pope seem more sane than the strange beast which is my neighbour.
Now, THAT’S a frightening thought.

My impression is that a lot of the GOP leadership knows it (Trump wasn’t their first pick during the primaries) but shuts up as long as they can remain in power. It’s completely craven. I keep wondering what the magnitude of a Trump screw-up will have to be before the GOP changes.
I’m putting my money on the 25th Amendment being invoked before Trump finishes his term.
