Today is a silver medal kinda day. First place, would have been if the country could have stopped that madman by way of impeachment. Instead, we simply waited him out.
It still rankles me that so many senators abrogated their responsibility to choose rule of law, instead leaving it up to the electorate to decide. As if the distinction between duty and grift can change with the winds.
I am hopeful that we can make good on this opportunity, but I’ll believe it when I see it.

Words are just words unless you got the actions to back them up but it was still like the difference between night and day to hear a president have a gram of humanity and compassion and empathy. I’m gonna add another voice in support of the poem as well, particularly - “we braved the belly of the beast”. Nice.

Definitely the way to go. I think the only reason to check in on the pundits is to keep an eye on whatever drivel they are serving up for mass consumption. I never expect to learn anything from them.
(Honestly, the history professors who have stepped up to write regular analyses of the news have been so much better. The two I have been reading the most are Heather Cox Richardson via the BBS and Christopher Bates on electoral-vote.com)
