…
Who knew being Putin’s buddy ended up going so very wrong for Donnie?
There are 15 weeks between now and November. A lot can happen between now and then. Don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched. And for chrissakes, vote.
To those who continue to criticize the Biden campaign for not hitting Trump harder right now, I’m reminded of the military advice attributed to Napoleon Bonaparte:
”Never interrupt your enemy while he is making a mistake.”
Looking at this, I can see why the Party leadership is going “burn it all down.” That way, Biden will spend the first two years cleaning up Trumps wreckage, at which point (of course) Biden will own the body count, the depression, the total collapse of American foreign relations, the totally pear-shaped trade mess, etc. etc.
And then the Republicans can have another wave election and make it impossible for Biden to get Senate confirmation for an administrative assistant, much less a deputy chief of staff. Oh, yeah – also budget impasses leading to government shutdowns too.
Those are some fine tax payer funded teeth for eyes.
Unless Biden declares himself King… (Evil laughing)
Just don’t get complacent, Dems. Fight as if the numbers were reversed, and remember that the broken-by-design Electoral College is still a thing. Or, you know, risk a repeat of 2016.
And in a new NBC/WSJ poll, people who were negative on both candidates went 62% for Biden and 4% for Trump.
@anon48584343, speaking of eyes:
Also: mass voter suppression, insisting on in-person voting during a pandemic, dodgy electronic voting machines, vulnerable online voter databases, etc. There are a hell of a lot of things the Republicans (and Russians) can do to screw with the election results.
In particular, remember that the ‘swing’ states that the Donald won by small margins are in play, and GOTV efforts will be important there. Polls show Biden is competing even in GA and TX, which DT would absolutely need to keep to win. Voter suppression is going to be the main republican tactic.
Roger Stone is in play again too.
Yeah, but Trump has access to polls that have been un-skewed and they show him winning. Also, he sees lots of Trump yard signs in the conservative areas he travels in.
November 3rd, midnight: Trump declares victory despite polling at 35%
November 4th: Trump team sues every state that shows a Trump lead, demanding they not count absentee ballots
For the next 5-6 weeks, the Trump team does everything they can to delay decisions, accuse opponents of cheating, etc.
Electoral College meets. Due to legal delays in many states, neither candidate gets 270 votes.
Trump team demands election be thrown to the House where Republicans hold a majority of state delegations (it’s one vote per state, ties don’t count).
Trump declared the winner
Democracy dies.
Trump’s campaign probably doesn’t have the legal talent/resources to pull that off.
Yeah, he’s formidable_opponent_NOT.
Like Mar-a-Lago.
It’s difficult to find legal talent when you have a well-known history of stiffing your legal team.
Well sure, but no one mentions how well Trump is doing in areas other than handling crises, coronavirus, healthcare, racial inequality, military, foreign policy, justice, domestic policy, economics, education, social safety net, infrastructure, the environment, and presidential demeanor.
Jesus, if only Bernie were the presumed nominee.
I guess then that in those first two years, the dems will need to turn DC and Puerto Rico into states. And increase the SCOTUS to 11 justices.
Yeah. Trump has him right where he wants him.
