But, the MAGA guy looks suspiciously like Steve Yzerman! That’s wrong on so many levels.
That’s the miscommunication. I was referring to changing the rule permanently, not just precedent. But whatever, our aims are the same, so I’m totally unconcerned with minor disagreements about language. This is a righteous day!
Politicians always make political calculations. See: Nancy Pelosi claiming progressive terms like “socialist” and “defund the police” cost them seats this election (untrue of course, since the ones who support those things WON elections, and it was the centrists shying away from them who lost).
Also see: statehood for DC was brought to the floor in 1993, when the Dems held both chambers AND the presidency. It didn’t get out of the house.
The Dems may not play it with the current ruthlessness of the GOP, but they make plenty of calculations before they act, and not always in the interest of the people. We have to hold their feet to the fire to get the change we want.
And more Monster Truck, WWE, longer hunting seasons, less environmental protection, less medical coverage for average citizen, increase corporate welfare payments… the list goes on.
One Term Donny
Half term if you count all the golf and twattering.
1993 was a very different time from 2020. Republican legislators had not yet spent the better part of three decades being the party of nothing but obstruction unless you count the racism.
HR 51 passed the House this year.
Not buying that one. That would explain why a centrist might lose a primary, but it does not explain why more people in a centrist district would vote for a Republican than a Democrat–especially in a year where turnout broke records.
Moderate Democrats in moderate districts who have seen themselves get painted as socialists or enemies of law and order because of the noisy left wing of the party may not be right that that’s the ONLY reason they lost–but that certainly didn’t help their reelection chances.
Not to mention that abortion becoming a hot button national election issue in the early 70s was as much about denying Jimmy Carter a 2nd term as anything.
Tired: MAGA
Wired: PA, GA
DDHQ called it early this morning, and is the place where the news get its news about the election results. I dunno why the story isn’t getting more traction.
Clicks, ad dollars, profit.
and we stopped wearing those ridiculous long beards and…
wait…
damn!
And by early, you mean late?
C’mon people, in Russia, they know the results two weeks ahead of the election.
at last… Take a deep breath… nothing seems quite as awful and beyond salvage, as it has done for 4 years at this one oh-so-brief moment.
Satan and his helpers out on the street. I suspect the world will start tilting on its axis again shortly. Christ knows what Trump will do between now and January ( my birthday - hope there is a planet left to celebrate it)…
Rick Santorum urges people to give Trump time to work out his feelings - he’s going thru a very emotional time.
Boo F*cking Hoo!
Santorum as a word gives me a completely different feeling after Dan Savage’s campaign
