That’s the first real laugh I’ve had in 4 days…
I’ll believe it after the Congress accepts the certificates of election. There are dark corners of the Constitution that could be opened even after December. It is silent on what rules apply if one Senator and one Representative challenge a certificate. The process may be one-state-one-vote (as it is when an undecided election is resolved in the House of Representatives), in which case we are so f*cked. (Fortunately, since it doesn’t prescribe one-state-one-vote, I think Pelosi can keep control of the process.) Also, each chamber decides separately - which hypothetically could give us a President Biden with a Vice President Pence.
I also expect Lord Dampnut to set up a government-in-exile at Mar-a-Lago or somewhere, and issue executive orders to Federal law enforcement. And State, too, why not? We’re ignoring the Constitution here anyway. Want to lay long odds that your local sheriff won’t follow his orders?
I’m looking forward to the day when all Trump can do is bitch that Biden’s inauguration crowd was so much smaller than his. (Assuming he has a Twitter account.)
It actually might be because of COVID.
Ugh - just imagining the boost that Gab will get when he is forced to move there because no one else will have him
He won’t. Twitter’s promised to finally take away his account if he can’t behave himself after 12:00 PM on Inauguration Day. And of course, he won’t be able to stop himself from breaking the rules as he’s dragged away on Marine One.
That deadline should really be once he’s officially a lame duck. (Well, really that line should have been crossed long ago, but…)
Take a look for something called Safe Harbor. There’s a Dec 8th deadline for it, and something else I read seemed to say that if a state’s process was within the Safe Harbor, that the certificate couldn’t be challenged.
I haven’t had time to dig. It kind of makes sense that if there were no irregularities, the certificate is the sovereign state of x’s final word to the United States. Also, if it was that easy to challenge a certificate, it’s hard to believe that there haven’t been two arseholes in hundreds of years that haven’t wanted to watch the world burn.
Yep.
Re: Trump not conceding: He does no have to. He does not want to concede because then he must stop challenging the result of the election.
It was more of a courtesy anyway.
For those with honor that is.
Open question: which major network will be the first to declare the election WON by Biden/Harris?
There are ancient whispers of a forbidden electoral clause that can only be accessed by breaking the Great Seal of the United States while chanting “Novus Ordo Seculorum…” during an offering of Patriotic Blood.
It all depends on when PA gets called, really. Trump mathematically cannot win without it, and it puts Biden over 270 if he gets it, even if AZ gets reversed and he loses every other outstanding state.
Are you invoking Nick Cage??
This page is keeping me sane. (Well…)
A baseball bat called… the “Vacancies Act”:
Shit, Trump’s been operating with “Acting” secretaries in most of the Cabinet spots for the last three years and not a single Republican senator has said boo.
Seems a bit late in the day now for them to grow a spine and demand confirmation hearings.
