Last night (I think? They kind of blur together) I was wondering why some outlets were showing Biden with 253 EC votes while others (Politico) gave 264. Then I wondered if maybe neither of them are right, and that I am the one living in a bubble (but also, that that’s how the gaslighting works), and what might, for example, Fox News show for the EC count?
Well, they weren’t showing the EC count at all, at that moment – it was Tucker time. He said something to the effect of “let’s say that Biden wins: well, do we just ignore the 69 million Americans who voted for Trump?”
I thought “Yeah, I wonder how that must feel” and went back to my bubble.
Sorry if this was already corrected by another poster, I’m posting from a phone and can’t scan the thread for a response very easily. But both of Georgia’s seats will go to a runoff, so it’s still up for grabs. Dems could get a 50-50 result and hold nominal control.
So here’s something I wonder: is there a means of forcing McConnell to do his job, such as taking up legislation, outside of an election that votes him out? Is there some mechanism constitutional to force him to actual do his job rather than obstructing the functioning of government?
Um, you did just see that confirmation of Coney Barrett, yeah? They will happily say one thing and do another, depending on how it benefits them.
Does anyone know how many outstanding military ballots are out there? They not only tend to swing strongly Republican, but they can come in over an extended period.
Not as if this is likely, but with enough Senatorial votes, he could be censured… or even expelled from office. wiki: …expulsion, which requires a two-thirds vote; or censure, which requires a majority vote.
Or, the GOP Senate could decide that he be replaced as party leader with a senator of a different, more “acceptable” ilk and muzzled/controlled that way.
