I know of the band Eagles - which can be far overplayed, besides having a few good songs - but am not familiar with The Eagles.

Why does everybody think that’s an ā€œold manā€ thing, as opposed to something that was fashionable in the 40s?

I sing this song right after I wake up every time I have a birthday, then I sing Birthday Cake by Cibo Matto.

I’ve been doing this for… I think about 16 years now, which would have been my second year in university.

On my spouse’s birthday one year, we went a restaurant in Chicago, the name of which I unfortunately don’t remember. Funky sandwich place with wooden tables that people had been carving and writing and drawing on for years.

Right where she sat, someone had written out the lyrics to ā€œOlderā€

South side? Medici.

Tourist shopping area/pizza? Gino’s East.

North side? Too many to choose from!

Medici was definitely it.

We were with friends who know where stuff is, whereas I don’t. I couldn’t say which part of Chicago it was, except that we walked over to the OI museum after, and a quick look at Google Maps tells me that was right.

Yup. The OI is such a lovely little museum. Also, the best gift shop EVAR (but absolutely no returns, so don’t buy on a whim).

Can’t say that Medici is where I would spend a loved one’s birthday, but I’m sure it was about the company, not the ambiance!
