I’m sure someone has compiled a list of major companies that are directly, unambiguously supporting Trump’s reelection campaign and includes citations to support those claims.
This list is not that.

If you read the BET article, it links to this site to check any brand: https://www.goodsuniteus.com
Sadly, Martin’s Famous Pastry Shoppe is 100% Republican. Sorry potato buns, we gotta end our long relationship.
Maybe not directly trump, but you can check this site for the brands you buy: https://www.goodsuniteus.com
That site looks like a good resource (assuming it’s accurate, I still can’t find citations for their data) but it doesn’t support the conclusions in the list posted with the BET article. For example, Hillary Clinton is in the top 5 list of politicians who got money from Olive Garden while Trump is nowhere to be found.
It’s a nice move. All of the Trump followers will go there “to own the Dems”. Cue more obesity and diabetes, and no decent healthcare to go with those…
Do you realize what this means?! An actual end to endless salad and bread sticks!!
No, Fast Food refers to a sector of companies, much as one might say ‘Tech’ or ‘Big Auto.’ It’s a rhetorical device, and not a tricky one.
And In-and-Out is not like most fast food companies, and is thus an outlier (in-and-outlier?). Also, while In-and-Out pays its employees what you call ‘well,’ it is still less than a working adult deserves and less than an adult needs to live in California with a 40-hr work week.
I’m aware. I was being facetious, because it’s kind of silly.
I called out In-n-Out because it’s featured in the list of supposed (and not true) Republican donors to Trump. Since they aren’t a donor, and aren’t keeping wages down below the poverty level, it’s not exactly fair to criticize them of doing either of those things.
It’s TACO-PAC, a PAC made up of individual franchise owners, who are donating. Corporate is not. So if you know or can safely assume your local franchise is not one of them, you’re not supporting Trump.
The BET article is somewhat misleading as well:
Taco Bell is not supporting Trump. Some franchises have formed a PAC.
Facebook is also not supporting trump. Peter Thiel, one of their investors, is. If you’re going by that, also boycott Spotify, Lyft and AirBNB because he funds them too.
Very true. Their corporate owners, Yum! Brands, are actually big Democratic donors (which is probably why some franchise owners are rebelling).
And there’s a lot of hair-splitting as far as boycotting companies goes. Marvel, the company/brand, is not supporting Trump 2020 in any possible way. But Marvel’s chairman, Ike Perlmutter, has been a longtime personal donor and pal to Trump (and a well known racist bigoted asshole who was removed from all day-to-day Marvel business years ago).
“I will no longer eat Nathan’s Famous Hotdogs.”
well - I did say I’d do just about anything to get rid of Trump. Not gonna be easy.
I wouldn’t worry about these brands too much. They’ll just hire Jay Z in an attempt to better their image to those on the left.
So far, I haven’t found anyone on their list of companies that isn’t more pro-R than Pro-D. Many of the smaller companies (or more local) aren’t represented, and the ones that are D are mostly not in my area. I haz a sad.
eta: Costco is mostly D. Whew!
True, its also not clear how those top 5 are determined or what senior employees are versus the company. Their goal is also to help determine which companies are better for finance reform but the natural inclination when visiting the site it to boycott per your preferred party. If everyone does that, I can imagine it fueling a greater divide between people for their parties.
I’ll be honest.
At this point, other than certain brands who have a clear and outspoken connection to high-level Republicans, I presume that when someone is calling for a boycott, it is because they are attempting to manipulate the corporate stock of the company and/or their competitors. Almost every single one of these insipid boycott requests ends up being completely and utterly baseless when you actually get into the details. (I mean, other than “this company bribes politicians of both sides because it needs that access to continue it’s business plans. Because politicians suck and that’s how you bribe them, otherwise your business is going to suffer.”)
I will GLADLY contract the diabeetus to trigger just one snowflake socialist liberullll!!!
I can’t quite find what franchisees donate to the pac. Opensecrets.org has a list of donors; you think that’s a reliable indicator?
Wait wait wait.
Does the evil motherfucker have a product placement deal with McDonald’s?
“If you send money to my campaign I promise not to let myself be photographed eating any more Big Macs.”
