Hooray for making Mexico great again!

Bud light is still on track for being number one this year but even if they move down…

Grupo Modelo, the Mexican brewer, is owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev, the same parent company of Bud Light.

They’re still profiting from the new number one.

Anheuser is still making money and not going anywhere.

This really is the dumbest timeline.

Anheuser-Busch InBev, makers of Budweiser, has a 50% stake in Grupo Modelo. Modelo is the distributor for Bud products in Mexico.

But, whatever.

There is definitely some surreal humor in conservatives punishing a “woke” beer, and inadvertently rewarding a beer from Mexico, another of MAGAworlds biggest enemies.

Anheuser-Busch InBev formerly owned 50% of Grupo Modelo, but then acquired the remaining 50% in 2013. And as part of an anti-trust settlement in this merger, Grupo Modelo was required to divest their entire US business to Constellation Brands.

So as a result, Grupo Modelo only produces and distributes Modelo (and Corona, Pacífico, etc.) outside the US. In the US, the products are produced and distributed by Constellation, and not related to AB InBev.

The CEO put out a statement, they just want to sell beer.

We recognize that over the last two months, the discussion surrounding our company and Bud Light has moved away from beer, and this has impacted our consumers, our business partners, and our employees.

We are a beer company, and beer is for everyone.

Today, we are announcing three important actions as we continue to move our business forward.

First, we are investing to protect the jobs of our frontline employees.

Second, we are providing financial assistance to our independent wholesalers to help them support their employees.

Third, to all our valued consumers, we hear you. Our summer advertising launches next week, and you can look forward to Bud Light reinforcing what you’ve always loved about our brand – that it’s easy to drink and easy to enjoy.

As we move forward, we will focus on what we do best brewing great beer and earning our place in moments that matter to you.

Here’s to a future with more cheers.

Brendan Whitworth

CEO, Anheuser-Busch

As long as you’re an easily frightened white male whose sense of safety is dependent on staying away from people who are different from you, then this Bud’s for you!
