A friend of mine who went through special army training told me of one test they had to go through, where they had to pass in single file through a sewage pipe that was just big enough so they could put their arms in front and pull themselves further in small increments. Just thinking about it makes my skin crawl.

I don’t know that it needed to be fixed, the joke was already there in a more subtle form.
